The Icing: Black with Blue Glitter

Happy Friday everyone! I hope everyone is well. Today I was going to go to the Big E, which is a huge New England fair with lots of yummy food, but it is raining cats and dogs out there so I guess there's been a change of plans. Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be nicer and we can get up there for the day, we'll see.

Today I just have a quick post for you. This is an Icing polish that I got on clearance as a part of a kit which had all black polishes with different glitters. None of the colors have names so I am calling this black with blue glitter because that is what it is.

I have been disappointed with polishes from The Icing. I find they do not wear well at all, they chip really easily which is frustrating. This particular color has a black jelly base which required 4 coats for the level of opacity you see here. That is pretty annoying so I don't see myself using this much. The Icing has some great colors but the quality of their products is lacking in my opinion.

Sorry such a short post. Have a great weekend all and those of you in the north east USA stay dry!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't done so yet you have until 11:59 EST tonight. Good luck!!

Icing: "Grape A Licious"

These photos are from a while ago before I shortened (read: broke) most of my nails. Please ignore the broken pointer.

This is Icing Grape A Licious which is a bright midtoned purple with magenta glitter. The color is okay, it looks better in person but I probably won't grab for this one often. It looked prettier in the bottle than on my nails.

I have decided I am not a fan of the Icing polishes. They chip so quickly and the consistency is difficult to work with and messy. On this one the glitter is super chunky so the finish was bumpy without an enormous amount of top coat. It makes me sad because Icing does have some great unique colors.

What do you think of Icing polishes? Have you had better luck than I have? Let me know!!!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend everyone! :-)

Icing: Blackout

Happy Monday readers! I hope all of you pampered your mothers for Mother's Day this weekend. I went to visit my mom yesterday and I got her some of her favorite MAC products: Groundwork Paint Pot and a Satin Taupe refill. She loves those!

Today I want to share some gorgeous photos of Icing Blackout with you. I purchased this one the other day. I mean how could I resist a black polish with rainbow/holo glitter? That's simply too much to ask.

The color of this one is simply beautiful. The formula on this one is simply horrid. While the application was not in itself difficult this one wore horribly. I am not kidding when I tell you I painted my nails on Friday night and by Saturday morning they were chipping and by Saturday night they were a horrific mess. If I didn't peel it all off (yes, peel it all off) while I was at the movies on Saturday night I'd have taken a photo to show you just how chipped it was. Trust me, this was awful. I am so annoyed that it chipped so quickly and so completely I am actually upset that I purchased other icing polishes.

Oh well, you live & learn right? On to the photos because at least this one is pretty to look at.

So, my question to you today is - Is the beauty of a polish worth dealing with a horrible formula? I am torn on this. I think my answer would be yes - if the problem is simply application. I can deal with an annoying application to get a gorgeous color (think Essie Lilacism for example) but I cannot deal with a polish that wears so poorly. I change my nail color every 2 days or so, sometimes even every day, HOWEVER I despise a polish that chips before I even leave my house. I literally painted my nails Friday around 7:30, hung around my house, did nothing with my hands, went to sleep, got up around 8 am and BAM polish chipped. Unacceptable.

A Quick Icing Haul and Starbucks Tip!

Good afternoon everyone! I just wanted to show you some goodies I picked up yesterday. I went shopping with some of my birthday money (I love it, 26 yrs old and still got some b-day cash!). I wanted to get some new clothes but I can never find anything I like. I went to 2 different malls. At the first one I got a cute shirt at New York and Company for 1/2 off but ended up returning it. I loved how it fit but it had this crystal broach thing on it that was sewn on and pinned on so you could technically remove it to wash it... but I know me and I know I'd ruin it. So back to the mall I went, a different one this time, to return the shirt. I wanted to get some basic button down oxford style shirts but I have mega issues with sizing on those. The medium is too small in the chest area, I cannot button them... but the large is HUGE on me. Ugh so annoying!!!

But I digress. I stopped in Trade Secret to look at the OPI Shrek Collection but nothing spoke to me for $8.50 a piece so I passed. Funky Dunkey was sold out but I think if it was there I might have grabbed it, though it is close to China Glaze's Grape Pop from Up & Away. Rumple's Wiggin' is really pretty but so close to China Glaze's Light as Air so I passed. I might go back and get What's with the Cattitude? but I am not sure. I am not a huge OPI fan, that darn brush!

So I went to Icing because I have seen some great blog posts on Icing's polishes and they are usually always buy one get one 1/2 off so I thought I'd see what I could find. So sure enough they were BOGO 1/2 off so I got Blackout and Grape-a-licious then I wandered into the back and couldn't resist the black glitters on clearance, a set of 5 for $8.oo so for $0.50 less than one OPI color I got 5 Icing colors. Not bad!! They're a teeny bit smaller than full size but still a bargain!

So here are the goods (click image for larger size):

So now some good news from Starbucks! If you're a Frappuccino lover like I am rejoice!!! From now until May 17th between the hours of 3 pm and 5 pm daily you can enjoy your favorite Frappuccino for 1/2 off! That's a great deal! Yummmy!!!!!!!

What's your favorite Frap!?! I love the classic Caramel Frappuccino, I also really love the Java Chip Frap. I really really want to try a Chai Frappuccino, I cannot believe I never had one!!! Well now I have to perfect excuse to indulge!

Just thought I'd share the sweet news!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Thank you for reading and commenting - I love chatting with you all!
