OPI: Pepe's Purple Passion: (Muppets Collection)

Hi everyone! Can you believe we're 12 days away from Christmas Eve? Where did the time go!? Honestly, this year flew by for me! Insane!! I still have not completed my Christmas shopping. Ugh!

Today I have another color from the Muppets collection to share with you. This one is called Pepe's Purple Passion and it's not really purple at all! To me this reads way more burgundy/maroon/plum than purple and it's packed with pretty red shimmer flecks. It's stunning! The shimmer absolutely makes this one for me. I am getting more into shimmer these days. Without the shimmer this color is basic but the red glass like flecks really make it fun to me.

The formula was a touch thicker than normal but not that difficult to work with. I did find that without a top coat this color lacked shine so be sure to top this one off.  I used two coats for the opacity shown and I am happy with the results. 

So, who is Pepe? Good question! I really love the Muppets but I guess I am not as big a fan as I thought I was because I really did not have a clue who Pepe was. Upon looking him up I have to say that I still have no clue who he is!  So let's learn together:

Apparently Pepe is a prawn, not a shrimp, a prawn. He does not like being called a shrimp so get it right! He is of Spanish descent and speaks with an accent. You can learn more about Pepe here. To be honest, he kind of scares me ;-) He's creepy but his polish is pretty so he gets a pass.

So hit or miss for you? I really like it. I think it's completely work appropriate too without being boring!

Nicole by OPI: Kiss Me At Midnight & Bring on the Tinsel

Monday, Monday, Monday. Hope everyone kicks off the week with a good day. :-)

Today I have two polishes from the Nicole by OPI Holiday Magic collection; Kiss Me At Midnight  and Bring On the Tinsel. 


Kiss Me At Midnight is a really pretty vampy dark burgundy. It's not entirely unique but it is a color I love.  It's got some nice depth to it, it won't be mistaken for black it definitely has enough red pigment in it to make it a true dark red.


The formula was standard. Easy to use, no issues with application.  I used two coats for opacity and was happy with the results.


Sorry for the nails in these swatches, I am still trying to get the middle nail to grow so they're all even. It's so irritating to me! Ugh!

Bring On The Tinsel is a fun holiday glitter. The base is clear and it's packed with mostly silver glitter and then specks of red and a sort of bluish green. It's really festive and fun but it's no match for China Glaze's Party Hearty  which in my book is the standout glitter of the holiday season for sure! 

Again, no issues with application. I used two coats on top of Kiss Me At Midnight. I think this combo is interesting but maybe next time I will pair it with a deep green or brighter red color.

OPI: Tease-y Does It (Burlesque Collection)

Happy Friday everyone! Who else is hoping to see Harry Potter this weekend? I hope we get to go. I know the crowds will be miserable but I am a huge fan and I am sure it will be so worth it!  Today I have a color from the OPI Burlesque Collection to share with you.

This is Tease-y Does It and OPI describes it as a "tempting burgundy shimmer". This color is quite vampy and quite beautiful. It's got a slight dark purple tone with tons of burgundy micro-shimmer in it. It's got the "almost black" thing going on but it's quite apparent, even in low lighting that this is not the typical black. The shimmer is prominent and beautiful.  It's not the most unique shade in the world but it's got a place in my collection for sure. 

I must be getting used to application with the pro wide brushes because I didn't have my usual application issues. I have been trying carefully to use the three stroke method and it's been working well for me with all brush types.  Even though this color is dark I did need three coats to reach full opacity and fix any streaks or bald spots. 

So what do you think of Tease-y Does It? Would you like to get this in your stocking this year? I love a good vampy polish so this one is a winner for me. It's not 100% unique in terms of color but that doesn't mean I don't love it and NEED it in my life.  And any good polish hoarder knows that even if there are colors that are similar no two colors are truly identical.

Barielle Shades asks "Wool You Marry Me?" this Fall!

Happy Monday! It's icky and rainy here today but fall is in the air and it's getting exciting. It's my favorite time of year. Crisp air, but not cold. Sleeping with the windows open. Jackets but not mittens. Hot cocoa, cider donuts, apple picking and leaves changing. And of course FOOTBALL! Bring on the fall!!

Today I have a gorgeous color from Barielle's fall line called Wool You Marry Me?. Barielle calls this "a plum brown creme" and I get that. I think it's plummy but it leans a bit more maroon on me. I LOVE it. Look how shiny this color is. These photos have NO TOPCOAT! How amazing is that! I adore a good shine on my creme polishes.

Again, the formula is excellent. I am really impressed with this collection so far. The cremes just glide on, the application required little clean up on my end. I adore it.

What do you think, how will you respond to the question Wool You Marry Me? I say YES! LOL. I love this color. I am a huge fan of reddish colors though so I am interested to hear what red haters have to think.

Essie: Velvet Voyeur (The Fall Collection)

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a good weekend, we went to a picnic on Saturday and it was my sister in law's 3oth bday on Sunday. My husband and I went hiking on Sunday though and I got hurt :( We hiked up this crazy hard trail and I survived it unscathed... on the way down we took an easier trail and of course that is when I fall and twist my ankle. OMG it hurt and still hurts so BAD! I couldn't even get up. My poor husband had to carry me down the rest of the trail on his back. Poor guy. I couldn't put any weight on my ankle. I was so scared I broke it. It's getting better now but I still have to hop around so I didn't go into my volunteer job today. Hopefully it will be better soon, oh well, on the the polish!

This is Essie's Velvet Voyeur and it's part of The Fall Collection. Essie describes it as and "intense chocolate amethyst" and I think that's pretty accurate. It's sort of a mix between a rich dark brown and a dark purple. Sometimes it looks brownish sometimes it looks purple. It's VERY dark and vampy, perfect for fall and winter. I think it's also safe for work, a bit edgy but still professional enough for most settings I'd bet. It was sort of hard to photograph but I think you'll get the point of the color from the photos below.

The formula is great. I didn't have any issues with the consistency. I ALWAYS make a mess with dark colors but it was no problem with clean up. I really love Essie polishes, I have never really had issues with the formula except for once with one of the spring colors. Otherwise I find them to be consistently excellent quality.

What do you think of this one? A must have for fall or will you skip it?

China Glaze Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen Collection: Foxy

Hello hello! Thanks for stopping by today! Today I am going to get my eyebrows threaded. I only had this done once before and it hurt like heck but the results were worth it. I have been growing them out for two weeks and I just cannot take it anymore. I know I should let them go a bit more so they can properly reshape them but we have plans with friends this weekend and I don't want to have crazy cave woman eyebrows! I hope they come out okay. Anyway, I have another lovely shade from China Glaze's fall collection to share with you. This one, to me, screams fall, it's really rich and beautiful. Enjoy!

This is Foxy, China Glaze calls it a "burgundy frost with shimmer" which I think is accurate. It's a really stunning burgundy that leans a little bit towards orangey-rust which is the quality that I think makes it perfect for fall. I think this color is work friendly but still interesting. I really love the richness of this color. I know a lot of people do not favor reds (I LOVE them, especially a rich red creme) but I think many red haters will enjoy this one as it's really a darker maroonish-rust that has some depth and creates a lot of interest.

The formula is great, not too thin, not too thick. Opaque in just two coats. I usually make a mess with these darker colors but this one was easy to apply and not messy at all which shocked me. I had no streaking and no balding. Again, this is AMAZING to me because I always have issues with frost colors streaking. I am absolutely impressed with China Glaze's treating of the frost formula.

So what do you think of this one? Does it scream fall to you or is it a dud? I think this one is one of the nicest colors in the collection, especially for the season. I think it's one I would not pass up. I am sure there are dupes out there though because reds in general seem to be overdone, but I cannot live without them.
