Zoya: Louise

Hi all! Today I have a really nice fall color to share with you. I received this for review from Zoya. This is Louise. My grandmother's name was Louise so  that makes me smile!

This is a really shiny brown creme color. Like semi sweet chocolate. I love it! It's a really nice fall color and can look really chic! The formula was lovely. I used two coats for opacity and this glided on perfectly with no issues.

Pretty right? I know browns aren't everyone's cup of tea (hahaha get it, tea is brown) but I really do like this one! What do you think of Louise

Jessica: Standing Ovation & Prima Donna

Hello beautiful readers. Today I have two colors that were sent to me from Jessica Cosmetics.

First up is Standing Ovation. Which is a peridot green frost color. I think the color is really pretty, and would be nice for winter, but I do not love the finish. This is extremely frosty and, as you can see from my photos, every brush stroke shows. If it didn't show the streaks it would be just beautiful. I used two coats for full opacity.

Next up is Prima Donna which is a really pretty royal purple frost/shimmer.  This one is slightly less frosty than Standing Ovation but still what I could consider a frost. I had less of an issue with streaks than I did with Standing Ovation.

I really love the color of this one. It's got such a pretty shimmer too. When applying just use some extra care and you can avoid a real streaky mess. This is two coats and fully opaque.

Overall these are really pretty colors but I am not a fan of the finish of Standing Ovation. What do you think of these? Do you have any tips for avoiding brush strokes on a frost?

Sinful Shine: Blue Suede Shoes and Nouveau Purple

Hello beauties! So sorry I have been slacking with the posting lately. I have been super busy. But here I am with TWO polishes to show you. The first, I bought, the second, was sent to me for review, both are from Sinful Colors' Sinful Shine line.

So first up is Blue Suede Shoes. I got this at Walgreens for around $3.99 (if I remember right, maybe $2.99). This is a really pretty dusty blue color with a creme finish. I love the look of this one, and I think it's quite nice for fall even though it's not a jewel tone like most fall colors tend to be.

The formula is thick and went on opaque in just two coats. I had no issues with application and these really do have a nice shine to them, as the name suggests. I did find that this color in particular wore for several days without chipping which is not always the case with most nail polish so I was impressed with that aspect for sure.

Next up is one of the shades the company sent me for review. This is Nouveau Purple and it's a rich, blackened royal purple creme. My photos are pulling it a bit blue, that always happens and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to correct that, so just know that that color is a true royal purple, blue toned but not blue.

Formula was consistent with the formula of Blue Suede Shoe in that it was thick, but not too thick, and applied with no trouble. Opaque in just two coats this dark color was easy to apply and dried with a really beautiful high shine. Thumbs up!

So, if you've seen Sinful Shine polishes in the drugstore and haven't tried them yet, pick one up! I think they're a great "bang for your buck" polish. I have always been a fan of Sinful Colors and this expansion of the line is a welcome addition to the polishes with a true drugstore price point. These days, drugstore prices are skyrocketing and polish is just as expensive as salon brands, I appreciate that Sinful is making efforts to keep cost down while still providing a high quality product in relevant colors and finishes. Kudos Sinful!

Have you tried this line? What are your favorites?

Throwback! Essie: Lollipop

Throwback! Today I am taking you back in time a few years to show you one of my favorite polish purchases from the beginning of my nail polish obsession. This is the perfect candy apple red and I took it out in honor of the beginning of Fair Season here in Connecticut, because it reminds me of those oh-so-sweet treats. This is Essie's Lollipop and there simply isn't another red as perfect as she is. I am sure you've seen this color a million times before but I had to dust her off and show her some love because she's really pure perfection in my eyes.

Lollipop is a sheer, jelly, candy apply red with no shimmer. The shine on this polish is magnificent. I used three coats for the opacity shown and, while it is a jelly finish, it does get fairly opaque. I am a huge fan of the way this one just pops!

Do you love this one as much as I do? What's your favorite candy apple red?
