Zoya: Caitlin (Intimate Collection)

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are prepping for a great week. Today I wanted to share a color from Zoya's Intimate Collection. This collection is absolutely gorgeous. These are all my type of colors for sure. I love these muted tones. They're work safe but still a bit edgy. I am in love.

Today I have Caitlin to share with you. Zoya describes this as a smoky purple tinged medium grey. I think that's really accurate. It's a fantastic shade. My sister in law complimented me on it this weekend. I love getting nail compliments.  I love how it's grey but it's purple at the same time. It may seem like you have a dupe in your collection, as we have been seeing a lot of these colors in the last couple of years, but I promise you it's a unique one and worth getting your paws on if the color appeals to you.

Caitlin is a creme finish which is my favorite kind of finish. I had no issues at all with application. It went on smoothly and I had very little cleanup!

I can see myself rocking this very often. I love these types of colors and I find them to be sort of on the neutral side so I can wear them with anything!

What do you think of Caitlin? Is this on your must have list for spring?

OPI: Ali's Big Break (Burlesque Collection)

This is OPI's Ali's Big Break, which came out with the Burlesque Collection. it's a gorgeous red with amazing glass like flecks that of course don't show up in the swatches. This color is amazing in person. Honestly the photos, even enlarged just don't do it justice.

I really like the formula on this one. I needed just two coats for opacity which is always a plus. I am getting used to the OPI wide brushes so cleanup isn't as much of an issue as it was for me in the past.

I really think this is a wonderful red color for those of you who don't typically dig the reds. I am sure you know by now I love them!

So what do you think of this amazing red?

Zoya: Raven

Last year Zoya had a promotion where you got three polishes for free with your order.  Raven was one of them. I finally got around to trying it out so I wanted to share my review with you all.

Zoya describes this color as: "Intense satiny black balanced by very subtle silver shimmer." The silver shimmer in this is extremely understated but I don't think it should be overlooked. It almost makes the polish appear to be satin finished or almost like a dulled patent leather if that makes any sense. I think it's the subtle silver shimmers that makes it appear that way. It's really pretty and I think black is always chic, especially on short nails. I love that look!

I found the formula to be nice to work with. I had virtually no clean up which is unusual for me with darker shades.  Zoya is slowly inching up to the top of my favorites. I love everything I have tried so far.

As always, click on images to enlarge.

So what do you think? Just a typical black or is there more to this one? Have you purchased this one? Do you like it?

Get the Golden Globe Looks

Please enjoy the following press release. All info and images were provided by PR.

Get the looks from your favorite Hollywood starlettes from The Golden Globes with products from Deborah Lippmann and Amika

Deborah Lippmann has been known to glam up some of the most high profile celebrities. It is no surprise that she polished one of the hottest stars of the season at this years’ Golden Globe Awards.  Nominee Anne Hathaway looked absolutely stunning as she walked the red carpet in a pink Armani Prive gown, fully embellished with sequins and Swarovski crystals selected by celeb stylist Rachel Zoe.

To complement the look, Deborah used a starry opalescent pink called I Dreamed You.  Her nails were topped off with Rachel Zoe’s favorite top coat, Addicted To Speed.

Glee star Heather Morris turned heads at the Golden Globes this year with a classic and elegant look and beautifully styled locks.  Her stylist wanted to create a super simple look that would allow the dress to really shine on its own.

David used Amika hair tools and products to create the look.  Here are the steps he followed:
-         Start with 2 - in -1 Volumizing Spray at the root to give extra lift.
-         To set the curls, start at the nape of the neck and wrap one inch sections of hair around the 19 mm clampless curler.
-         Brushed out the hair to form large waves.
-         Lightly pulled back the hair into a low pony tail with a clear elastic, leaving out the bangs and a small section near the front.
-         Twist the ponytail and pin into the base.
-         Finish the look with the Shine Spray for a gorgeous red carpet ready look.

____________

It's always fun to figure out exactly what is being worn on the red carpet.  I think I really need a nice clampless curling iron!

SPARITUAL: Health, Wealth, Happiness

Good morning everyone! I hope you're all having a great week, it's 1/2 over so hang in there if not.

Today I wanted to share a polish from SpaRitual, this color is called Health, Wealth, Happiness which is part of their Imagine collection.  Health, Wealth, Happiness is a gorgeous blue/purple duo chrome. Photos simply do not do it justice. In some lights it is a rich shade between royal and navy blue and it other lights is a deep royal purple. The duo chrome is just gorgeous and done right.

Application was slightly above average but it did take 3 coats for maximum opacity. I didn't have any issues with brush strokes which always makes me so happy when working with a shimmer/frost type color. I have said it before but I will say it again, nail polish brands are really stepping it up when it comes to this finish, they've come a long way; which is why it is so disappointing when we do come across a frost with massive brush strokes.

Honestly this color is one you really need to see in person. It's stunning, it really is. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we just cannot capture a color's true beauty in a photograph.  This is one of those times.

SpaRitual can be difficult to come across, it is typically found at spas, hence the name I guess. But if you can find some of their polishes I think you should pick one or two up because their good quality.

So what do you think?

OPI: Parlez-Vous OPI? (Re-Do)

So today I wanted to show you one of my favorite colors, Parlez-Vous OPI by OPI. I wanted to review this because it was my very first blog post and my photo was AWFUL as I hadn't discovered my macro setting yet haha. I noticed that many readers find my blog by searching for this color on Google so I'd rather they found much better photos so that's why I am reviewing this one again.

This color is great. It's a medium dusty purple creme color.  I love wearing purples so of course I'd love this one.  The application is great, it's opaque in two coats and goes on smoothly. This is one of my favorite OPI colors for sure.

So I hope that you enjoyed these updated photos. My original ones were just so horrific I had to do them over to show the true beauty of this color. Do you own this one? How do you like it?

Color Club: Soft as Cashmere

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. Today I want to share a great taupe neutral color from Color Club called Soft as Cashmere. This shade is gorgeous and I got a ton of compliments on it while wearing it last week.  I love when people notice my nails LOL. I love mushroom-y shades. A woman at Rite Aid said "I love your nails, they look like concrete" LOL which of course I took as a compliment.

This color is a creme finish and application was a breeze. It was opaque in two coats and had a really nice shiny finish. I found it also wore quite long without chipping which is a plus when you're on the go and too lazy to polish. I really love this one.

So what do you think? Do you love it as much as I do? What are your favorite mushroom-y taupe colors. I can't get enough of them so let me know which ones I should acquire!
