OPI: Road House Blues and Servin' Up Sparkle

Hi everyone! Today I have two gorgeous polishes to share with you. TWO! LOL.  The first is OPI's Road House Blues from the Touring America Collection. This is a rich gorgeous blackened navy blue creme. I love the finish on this one and just adore these blackened colors in general.  It is not so blackened though that it looks black, it is a true navy blue which is so chic to me.

The formula on this is lovely and I just needed two coats for the opacity pictured. I love the creme finish and it's got a nice high shine to it.

Photo one is no flash, photo two is with the flash, which is why it appears slightly more blue.

I topped Road House Blues  with Servin' Up Sparkle  from the Serena collection and I love the combo! Servin' Up Sparkle is gorgeous!! It's a clear base with tons of holo glitter and some hex glitter thrown in. I just love how it looks on top of the rich navy blue!

The formula was not too hard to work with. Often, hex glitters are hard to place on the nail and this is no exception but it really wasn't that hard because it is packed with glitter.  I really love the end result and think this is one of the prettiest top coats I have seen in a long time.

So are you loving this combo as much as I am?

OPI: Mermaid's Tears (Pirates of the Caribbean Collection)

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and that this week goes by quickly and smoothly.

Today I wanted to share a color from the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. I know, I know, that collection is old but I haven't gotten my hands on it till' now!

Mermaid's Tears is a gorgeous aqua green that is similar, I think, to Essie's Turquoise and Caicos. I think Mermaid's Tears is more green than Turquoise and Caicos though. It's a really pretty fun color that I think most skin tones can pull off no problem.

The formula on this one is really nice. I used only two coats for the opacity shown in the photos. It went on smoothly with no streaking or balding. I am happy to report that I am getting really used to the OPI pro wide brush which makes me so happy!

Are you a fan of this polish?

OPI: Crown Me Already (Miss Universe Collection)

Hi everyone! Today I want to share photos of OPI's Crown Me Already which is part of the Miss Universe collection.  It's a really bling-y metallic silver with tons of silver regular glitter and silver hex glitter. When the light hits this one it's absolutely beautiful!

For a glitter it is extremely opaque and I got the photographed opacity in three coats. Nice!!! So this is not a top coat, you can really wear this alone. You do have to be mindful of where the hex glitter goes but it's not the most difficult glitter I have applied. It was really a nightmare to remove though. The hex glitter stuck to my nails and I had to buff some of it off. That was annoying. I find that that happens to me sometimes with larger glitter polishes for some reason.

I really like this one. I see myself pulling it out of the good ol' Helmer during the holidays. What do you think of it?

Color Club: Nouveau Vintage (Back to Boho Collection)

Hi there! I hope you're all doing well. Fall is in there air in my part of the USA. I love the crisp cool air this time of year brings. I cannot wait to pick apples and sip cider. Summer flew by though! Woah!

Anyway, today I have a color from Color Club's Back to Boho fall collection. This is Nouveau Vintage which reminds me of Club eyeshadow from MAC (used in an eye look here). It's brown and  green and red all at once. It was impossible to capture this shade on camera but I tried my best.  This is a really nice color for fall because it's deep and complex.

The formula was nice and I had no issues with application. I used three coats for the pictured opacity.  I do think it chipped rather quickly, as I wore it for three days and by day three it was chipped a lot, especially on the tips.   I do think the color is worth dealing with that though because it is rather pretty!

I wish the photos captured its complexity! Oh well, I tried!! Do you like this one as much as I do?

OPI: It's My Year (Miss Universe Collection)

I hope everyone is having a great Monday! Today I have a gorgeous color to  share with you all from the OPI Miss Universe Collection.  This is It's My Year; it's a stunning purple with tons of gold/copper shimmer throughout.  It's almost a foil finish.  It's absolutely gorgeous and is so shimmery! I love it.

The formula was great, I had no issues with balding or streaking and the color was opaque in just two coats. I did add a third coat though just because. I have been on a 3 coat kick lately for some reason.

What do you think? I love this one! I am a sucker for purples and anything with a golden sheen!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: OPI: Congeniality is my Middle Name

Hi everyone! It's an icky rainy day here in CT but it's Pink Wednesday so I can't help but smile :-)

Today I am featuring OPI's Congeniality is my Middle Name from the Miss Universe Collection.  This is a deep berry/wine color with a really pretty shimmer.  I would call it a pink but I guess it's not a true pink. Oh well, for the season it works for Pink Wednesday in my mind. In some lighting, which I could not capture in the photo, the shimmer appears purple.  It's a really nice color for the fall and winter season. It has a good depth to it and I think it would flatter a ton of skin tones.

The formula on this was lovely. I used three coats for the opacity shown simply because sometimes I feel like shimmers need the depth of that third coat. Could you get away with two? Probably. My nails are unusually long for my normal taste so I wanted to make sure I had no visible nail lines because they drive me nuts. Three coats did it for me.

What do you think? I am a fan. I think I will wear this periodically throughout the fall.

I love love love the feed back on the French Manicure I have been  getting. Thanks all for participating in the comments. If you  have more to say make sure to head over to that post and sound off. Also, don't forget to vote in the poll to the right! I love hearing your thoughts!!

The Classic French Manicure: A Clean & Chic Standby or Tacky and Outdated?

Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope you all got a day off and didn't have to work. I am enjoying the long weekend and wish it was even  longer.

So today I decided I wanted to do a classic white-tipped french manicure. Now, I know, there's a ton of controversy over this look. Some of us love it, and some HATE it. I have heard so many different opinions on the classic french, so I want to know what you all think! I am going to put up a poll in the sidebar but I want to hear from you in the comments too. What do you think? Is this a clean, classic standby for you or do  you think it's tacky and outdated?

I personally love this look, I always have. I think the white is so chic and it's just a classic look that works in so many situations. They could be everyday go to work nails or wedding day nails. I think the french matches everything and looks elegant and fun! I just know I have heard that people HATE it and think it's trashy so I want to hear what the majority thinks... especially since I know all of my readers are nail polish fanatics like me!
For this look I used one coat OPI's In the Spot-Light Pink for a base and did the tips in Orly's White Tips which is a vibrant true white color. Another similar white is China Glaze's Snow. I love the bright stark white but I know some people enjoy a creamy color on the tips.

So what say you? Love them or hate them? Those who hate them, why? Those who love them, what is your perfect french manicure color combo?

Color Club: New Bohemian

Hi everyone! It's nice to finally have power again after that hurricane! How annoying was that? I was out for 4 and 1/2 days! It's insane how much we rely on electricity.

Today I have a color from the Color Club Back to Boho collection to share with you. This is New Bohemian which is a gorgeous teal/tiffany style blue creme. We've seen many colors like this and it seems to always be a crowd pleaser. I love these type of colors though I am pretty sure they don't look that great on my nails. I do like to do colors like this on my toes though, I think that's fun!

Like I mentioned, we've seen colors like this before. My all time favorite of this shade is Essie's Turquoise and Caicos the formula on that cannot be beat in my opinion.

I found this one went on a little thick but it wasn't a nightmare to apply, just something i noticed. I am sure if I was more careful applying 2 coats I would not have needed the third. The finish on this is nice and shiny, just how I like it.  I had no issues with streaking or balding.

So, are you a fan?
