On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Sinful Colors: Star Fish (Island Adventure Collection)

It's another Pink Wednesday and today I have a gorgeous color straight from the drug store. On Monday I showed you that gorgeous dusts sage color from Sinful Color's Island Adventure collection, well today I have another beauty from the same promotion.  This is Star Fish. Star Fish is a gorgeous blue toned bubblegum like pink color.  I find this type of pink to be among the most flattering pinks for my skin tone. It reminds me of Essie's Splash of Grenadine.  Just as Seaweed was a dupe of OPI's Stranger Tides, this is a perfect dupe for OPI's Sparrow Me the Drama.  I love a good cheap dupe!!

The formula on this was a little on the thick side. It didn't cause me any trouble, however you need to be a bit careful to avoid a gloopy look.  I got full opacity in just two coats, and the photos below are two coats.

I tend to like Sinful Colors polishes. I am rarely disappointed with their products. I love that they are now launching some more relevant color collections. I am sure the dupes piss off the big companies, but it's nice to see affordable, high quality products in modern shades available in drugstores.

What do you think of this pink? Have you seen this collection in your area? The only color I want from it that I cannot find is the purple. It's beautiful and I favor purples. I will track it down!

Sinful Colors: Seaweed (Adventure Island Collection)

Good morning!!! I hope everyone is doing well today. Sorry I took last week off from blogging. It's been so tough to get good photos done when I have NO SUNSHINE. The ones I have for today are okay but not the best. My apologies. When I get a beautiful sunny day I will do a swatch-a-thon!

Today I have a gorgeous sage green from Sinful Color's Adventure Island collection to share with you. This color is literally the perfect dupe for OPI's Stranger Tides. I was shopping this weekend while wearing this and picked up Stranger Tides and it was identical so I did not even purchase it! Gotta love a $2 dupe! :-) I just love this color. Green is my favorite color and this is my favorite shade of green!

The formula is great. I had no issue with application. It was on the thick side but it didn't make it difficult to work with at all.

If you're dying to get you hands on Stranger Tides  but can't find it or cringe at the price, head over to Rite Aid and get this baby for just $1.99 it will satisfy that craving!

Zoya: Minka (Touch Collection)

Hi everyone! Today I have another color from Zoya's Touch Collection. This one is Minka. Zoya describes Minka as: "A pale, milky beige nude with yellow undertones and a hint of pearly silver shimmer. An opaque, full-coverage nude, especially flattering on skin with neutral and olive tones." This is absolutely a more yellow toned nude color. It's not a gross, dirty looking yellow, it's just enough yellow tone. The shimmer in this is understated, nice and subtle.

I found the formula on this one to be easy to work with and I did get full opacity in just two coats. I really love Zoya's formula and this color is no exception. It's nice to get an opaque nude, which is really what this collection is all about. For those of us who loathe VNL these nudes do the trick.

What do you think of this one?!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Julep Nail Vernis: Mandy

It's another beautiful Pink Wednesday and today I have a color from Julep Nail Vernis called Mandy. Mandy is a vibrant coral toned hot pink, perfect for summer! The color is slightly more coral in real life than it appears in the photos. It's a really fun, almost neon shade.

I found the formula to be easy to work with and I had full opacity with just two coats.  I had no issues with streaking or balding and the formula was a nice consistency, not too thick and not too thin.  This is my first experience with the brand. I'd actually never heard of it until they contacted me and I am happy I got to try it. I think it's a great product.

Julep Nail Vernis is 3 free and retails for $14 a bottle and $1 from every bottle goes to charity.  They're also offering free shipping with any order this summer. I love free shipping! The price is sort of hefty, considering the size of the bottle. These are a little more than 1/2 the size of the standard nail polish, they are .27 fl. ounces. Most polishes are .50 fluid oz. So considering the size they're very expensive.   They seem to have a fantastic color range, with a shade for everyone, so if you want to splurge you'll find something you like.

Deborah Lippmann: I Know What Boys Like

TGIF everyone! Today I have a gorgeous color from Deborah Lippmann to share with you! This is I Know What Boys Like and it's a beautiful periwinkle creme.  I am in love with this color, it's so pretty!!!

I know Lippmann Collection polishes are a splurge at $16 for the cremes but let me tell you, they are worth every penny. This color is so gorgeous and the formula is perfection. It has a great shiny finish and just feels so smooth. I had no issues with application at all. The first coat was not opaque at all, it wasn't streaky but it did seem uneven. The second coat totally perfected the finish though and it was perfect smooth opacity. I just adore Lippmann polishes.

Gorgeous right? Love it!!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: OPI: Come to Poppy

Hello hello! It's another Pink Wednesday! Today I have a bright fun summery pink from the OPI Nice Stems! Collection.  Come to Poppy is a frosty coral pink.  This color is like old school frost colors without the horrific streaking.  That's not to say there's no streaking when applying this one but not much and not enough to be really problematic in my opinion. I think overall the finish is nice and the small amount of streaking is really not noticeable.

I seriously cannot decide if I love or hate this color on me. It's so bright and fun however I usually do not like these colors on me. I am just not sure!

These photos show two coats for maximum opacity:

So what do you think about Come to Poppy? Is this a color you'd like to rock this summer?

Milani Baked Blushes in Fantastico Mauve and Dolce Pink

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Today I wanted to show you some fun makeup products available at your local drugstore. Milani has really stepped up it's game recently and one of the newest, the baked blush, is really impressive.

Here's what the packaging looks like when the product is closed:

I am not going to lie, I don't LOVE the gold shiny packaging but it's not going to change my impression of the product.  I did not take photos of the underside, I should have. The bottom opens to reveal a small brush. I, like most people, don't use those brushes, they tend to be scratchy and oddly shaped. I would use it in a pinch though and might be good for light traveling.

The two colors I got are Fantastico Mauve and Dolce Pink. As you can see in the photos each is rich and marbled.  Fantastico Mauve gives a dark plum color to the cheeks. It might look intimidatingly dark but it's really quite flattering on the skin. Dolce Pink  is a light fresh pink that adds life to dull skin.  I really love them both. Both shades are shimmery but not overtly so. I didn't find them to be chunky glitter just an overall shimmery sheen. I like the effect but it might not be for everyone.

I did not include swatches because they're blush. You don't wear them heavily swatched right? I supposed I could have taken a full face photo but I did not.

According to Milani these are baked on Italian Terracotta stones.  If you've used baked products before, like MAC mineralized skin finishes, you'll know what type of texture to expect from these.

Overall I am impressed with these. I think they are nicely pigmented with good color pay off and I enjoy the shimmery finish they create. I think they're priced fairly and are great quality.

These retail for around $7.99 each and can be found on Milani's website or at your local drugstores. I find Milani at CVS and Walgreens consistently. The drugstores always have great sales like buy one get one half off so you can't go wrong picking one up.

Have you tried these? What do you think of them?

Zoya Touch Collection Preview and Zoya: Pandora

Good morning everyone! It's Monday again, BOO! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today I have a polish from the Zoya Touch Collection. The Touch collection, as pictured above, contains three opaque nude shades. I love nudes but hate sheer nudes so this collection is wonderful. Further, these nudes all have a hint of shimmer that makes them stand out from your typical nude shades.

This is Pandora which Zoya describes as "A medium pink-beige nude with blue and mauve undertones and a hint of pearly silver shimmer. An opaque, full-coverage nude that works beautifully on skin with cool tones."  I think this is an accurate description. The pink in this is gorgeous and I feel like it really is a flattering shade. The pearl shimmer is subtle but just enough to make this color unique and fun.

I used just two coats for full opacity as shown in the photos below. I really  love how these apply so opaque.  Thumbs up for the formula on this one! I had no issues with streaking or balding and no visible nail line.

So are you digging the nudes this season? What do you think of this one?

I am almost to 800 google friend connect followers. I want to thank all of you, new and old, for reading and commenting on my blog. It means a lot to me to know there are people who read and enjoy my material. Thanks for stopping by! Say hello!!

China Glaze: Hey Sailor (Anchors Away Collection)

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful week. It's finally getting somewhat sunny here so photos should be improving, I hope.

Today I have a color from the spring China Glaze  Anchor's Away collection. This color is called Hey Sailor and it's a vibrant red creme.  For some reason it reminds me of that Christina Aguilera song Candyman. I think it's because when I saw her in concert she wore a pin-up style sailor costume during that number.

This color is a bright red creme which is more of a yellow based red to my eye as opposed to a classic blue based red. This color leans slightly orange because of that but it's absolutely a red.  While I love this color I do think that blue based reds are more my style. I will wear this again though, I really love it!

The formula was good on this one. I used two coats to achieve maximum opacity as shown in the photos. I had not trouble with streaking or balding. I did find the formula, like others in this collection, to be on the thick side, but it did not cause any trouble for me.

What do you think of this color?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Nicole by OPI: Pink-Nic in the Park

It's Pink Wednesday again! Today I have a Nicole by OPI pink which came out with their Target exclusive collection this spring.  This is Pink-Nic in the Park. It's a really sheer baby pink shimmer which appears slightly iridescent.  I am not really a fan of this one, it was too sheer for my liking and really not flattering with my skin tone.  I don't see myself wearing this one again. I find that colors with irridessence appear very yellow on my nails for some reason which is not a look I tend to go for.

In the photos this is three coats and a top coat in natural lighting:

Have you tried this one? Is it a color you'd rock? Let me know!!
