nubar: Honeysuckle & Purple Aster (Spring Garden Collection)

TGIF everyone! I hope you all had a nice week and that your weekend is even better. The weather is finally beautiful here so I am thrilled! I love when it gets warm!!!!

Today I have two colors from nubar's Spring Garden Collection, Honeysuckle and Purple Aster. I had a break during these photos and the sun was not cooperating so they're not my best shots. I apoligize!

Honeysuckle is a really pretty bright hot pink. It's not neon but it's still "hot".  It's a creme so there's no shimmer or frost. I love cremes! I do not typically favor pinks of any kind but this one is nice. I think I'd rather have it on my toes.

I needed three coats for opacity on this one. I like two but we can't always get what we want! Otherwise the formula was great just like all of the nubar polishes I have tried.

Up next is Purple Aster. This color is a pastel light lavender color. It's also a creme. It's not chalky like some pastels can be so that's a plus.  The sun refused to peak out the day I photographed this one! So frustrating. It's pretty though not unique. I cannot get enough of these purples in my collection though so it's a welcome addition in my Helmer!

I used two coats for opacity on this one! That's more like it! No brush strokes or balding at all. A solid polish!

Overall these two are nice offerings from the Spring Garden collection. Nothing really out of the ordinary but nice colored good quality polish. You can get these at bynubar.com for $7.49 each.

What do you think of these two? Which do you like best?

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a great day! Today is my 27th Birthday! So yay! I had a nice day, even though I had to work (welcome to real life).

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. The sun has not really been out here... and when it has appeared i have not been able to swatch!

My birthday manicure included Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday  of course! I love this glitter!  My mom bought this for me for Christmas and I haven't even used it yet! INSANE!!!!!  I love it though it's such a fun glitter. It's suspended in a clear base so it's a topper really.

I used China Glaze's Snow as my base coat. I used two coats of that. Then I topped it with one coat of Happy Birthday.

It's so funny. I got so many compliments on this at work today. Everyone was like "What is that?" "How did you do that?" it was weird! I love how it looks over the white though! I have seen other bloggers do that and I knew I had to!

Zoya: Apple (Sunshine Collection)

Good  morning! I hope those of you who celebrate Easter had a wonderful holiday, and those of you who don't I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Today I want to show you another Zoya from the summer releases. Zoya describes Apple as a "luminous yellow-toned apple green packed with gold metallic sparkle..." Yup, that's about right. The gold sparkle makes this color unique in my collection. I like how the green and gold go together, it's really pretty. Zoya has really done a great job lately at making that sparkle look amazing!

This color really needs three coats to be fully opaque. I was lazy and did two and I was a little annoyed with the level of VNL. So do three, save yourself the annoyance. The formula is great though, like most Zoyas. Application was flawless really.

Zoya polishes are available online for $8 a piece. But make sure you check out their current Exchange promotion to save a TON and help green the Earth!

What do you think about this color!?!?

______________

I also wanted to show you these adorable Wooster & Prince accessories.  The mirror is the perfect purse mirror. I love that it has an inspiration saying on it. It says "Love your self and the rest is easy". I love that!  I think these accessories would make great little presents for any young girl in your life.  Just thought I would share!

Zoya: Mira (Summertime Collection)

Good morning folks. I hope your week is going well. I have a short week this week since I have Good Friday off so I just need to make it though these next two days in one piece.

Today I want to show you  a color from Zoya's Summertime polish collection.  I love this part of the collection, it contains all of the creme shades.  This is Mira. It's a blue toned medium/royal purple.  This is nothing we haven't seen before, however I am a sucker for purple cremes so I am in love with this one!

The color is similar to China  Glaze's Grape Pop which came out in last year's Up & Away Collection.  It's rich and opaque in two perfect coats.  I had no issues with application, no balding, streaking or opacity problems. It's a great polish!

What do you think of this one? I think it's beautiful, but like I said, I cannot get enough of the purple cremes. You can get this at Zoya.com for $8.

Nicole by OPI: Sea How Far You Go and Dandy Lion

Hi everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the last moments of your weekend today.  I have two Nicole by OPI Target exclusive colors to share with you today.  Apologies in advance for the state of my nails in these photos, I had some breaks and I also has NO SUN when I took these photos but they're not too bad.

The first color I have here to show you is Sea How Far You Go which Nicole by OPI describes as "a limit pushing gold". I personally think it's more of an olive toned metallic color. It's definitely not exactly what I'd call a true gold.  It reminds me of MAC's Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow.

This polish went on well and was opaque in just two coats. I like it.

Now, the second color I have for you is called Dandy Lion (cute name!!). Nicole by OPI describes this one as "An un-caged and totally fierce metallic yellow." Yup, it sure is a metallic yellow.

Honestly, I will probably never wear this color again. It's just not my thing.  It's a warm toned yellow with tons of metallic shimmer.

I needed three coats for the opacity shown in the photos.   I had no trouble with application, this just is not my type of color.

These two polishes are part of the Target Exclusive Something About Spring collection. The suggested retail on these is $7.04 (RANDOM!?!?!) and you can get them at Target stores or if you don't have a Target near you you can purchase them on Target.com. Nice!

I'd wear Sea How Far You Go again but Dandy Lion is probably not going to see the light of day again.

China Glaze: Pelican Gray (Anchors Away Collection)

Good morning! It's an icky yucky rainy April day here in Connecticut. So it's only appropriate that I share a gray color today!  This is China Glaze's Pelican Gray from the Anchors Away spring 2011 collection.  It's a light creme gray color which we're seeing more and more of lately.   I like colors like this but I am not sure I need so many! I guess the only thing that makes this one stand out is the very very very slight hint of shimmer it contains. I called it a creme but I said there's shimmer in it? What's wrong with me?! But honestly, there's a slight shimmer in this but  you'd really see it more of a creme.  I am pretty sure you cannot even see the shimmer at all in any of the photos.

Formula was great, as always seems to be the case with China Glaze for me.  I achieved maximum opacity with two coats.  I had no issues with balding or streaking.

Do you need this? Not if you have a few creme grays in your collection. I mean the shimmer makes it different but you can't even see it. If you have Lippmann's Waking Up in Vegas or Zoya's Dove (maybe slightly darker) you won't need this.  Of the three I'd say go for the formula you like best since the colors are so close it's not truly necessary to own all three.  Up to you really.

So what do you think of all the light grays coming on the scene lately? I dig them! I think they're great colors. When Lippman's Waking Up In Vegas came out it was something we hadn't seen much of before but now it's getting popular.

Zoya: Reva (Sunshine Collection)

Good morning everyone! Happy Monday - I HATE MONDAYS! I hope you all had a nice weekend though. My husband and I went to a show at Mohegan Sun Casino and of course lost money gambling. There's seriously no way to win. I am convinced. I would have been better off taking all that money and going to the mall and spending it on actual things! I did go into the Lush store when I was there though and I got a Ma Bar Bubble bar. I always am too cheap to get Lush but I figured I blew so much on the slots I might as well have an $8 bubble bath too, haha!

On Friday I got a package from Zoya containing their summer collection.  I am really loving the cremes in that collection but I wanted to share one of the shimmers from the Sunshine package today.

This is Reva. Zoya describes Reva  as  "a cool toned strawberry red with glowing golden metallic sparkle.  A very rich and luxurious looking gilded red." That sounds about right to me.  It's rich looking and really loaded with the golden metallic sparkle.  It's not glitter but shimmer really. When out in the sun it shimmers!  I think this color is a nice twist to the classic red, and absolutely safe for work. I am not sure this color necessarily screams "summer!" to me but it's pretty.

Formula wise this was great. It went on smoothly and was opaque in just 2 coats. Sometimes this sort of formula needs 3 coats for opacity (like Apple from the same collection) but this one was good with two. I think it's because the color itself is sort of dark.

I think the photos are accurate but I'd say the color is slightly darker (more maroonish) in real life. Just a heads up.

So what do you think of Reva? Will you be picking this one up?
