Megan Miller Collection: Coral Bliss

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Steve and I had a nice relaxing weekend which is a change for us during the summer. On Saturday night we went to see The Dark Knight Rises and I really enjoyed it.  I also joined Instagram this weekend, you can find me on there under primandpolishedblog. I set it up so that photos will be automatically shared on my blog's Facebook page and on my Twitter as well, I figured it would be a fun way to connect with you all beyond the blog. Come find me!!!

Today I have a color from the Megan Miller Collection to show you.  This is Coral Bliss  and it's a bright coral creme polish.  Isn't the bottle just absolutely gorgeous? The top is made out of a cork material which is so unique and just beautiful to me. It's soft and doesn't interfere with application at all in case you're wondering. I found the polish to be a bit on the thin side so I did need three coats for full opacity. It had an interesting texture. I want to say almost plastic like but that doesn't really make sense. It's hard to describe really. It dries nice and shiny and I really enjoyed it.

Lacquers from the Megan Miller Collection are made in the USA, are big 3 free and cruelty free. They are $12.00 and can be purchased online.

What do you think of this one? I am LOVING corals lately. I guess it's truly the color of the summer!

Have you tried any polishes from the Megan Miller Collection? If so which has been your favorite? If not, which one do you most want to try?

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer: Cyberspace

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you one of the prettiest polishes I have tried out in a long time. I love a good holo polish and this one is absolutely stunning. This is Cyberspace by Pomegranate Nail Lacquer. It is holographic microglitter in a charcoal grey base. It's STUNNING. I think this is my new favorite polish color. I can't get over how flawless this polish is because not only does it look amazing but it applies perfectly too.

I applied two coats for full opacity. I had absolutely zero issues with application, it went on like a dream.  So really not only was there no application problems but the formula was damn near perfect to me.  It is packed with holo microglitter. The glitter is finely milled it's just there. It does not have any gritty glittery texture at all. This polish is smooth as butter in application and when drying. It's just perfect to me in all ways.  The holographic rainbow is just how I always wish holos would be. I am in love.

Are you digging this one as much as I am? I highly suggest checking out Pomegranate Nail Lacquer if you're looking for some new fun and excellent quality nail polishes. You won't be disappointed. They retail for $9.00.

Dermelect ME: Luxurious

Hi everyone! Happy Monday (ugh!!). I hope you all had a great weekend! I did! My husband and I had a sleepover with our 2 year old nephew/godson while his parents went to a wedding. We had so much fun! How cute is this guy?:

Today I want to show you a polish from the brand Dermelect. You may remember my Dermelect Launchpad review from way back in 2010. That is an excellent product that I would recommend to anyone.  Now Dermelect makes colored nail polish. I was very excited when I saw the press releases for these!

Dermelect nail polish is peptide infused and as an ingredient called ProSina Keratin Protein which derives from New Zealand wool which is supposed to do all sorts of wonderful things for your nails. Check out their website for more information on the product and its ingredients.

I got to try out Luxurious which is a lilac purple creme. You all know my love for purple cremes and this is no exception, these colors just speak to me.  The polish itself, at least my bottle, is quite thick so I had to apply with care.  I did get some bubbles but they smoothed out with the second coat and the top coat.  I used two coats for the full opacity shown.

This had pretty good staying power though I did not wear it long enough to really put it to the test. It did make it through a weekend though and I had no real tip wear and I had one or two chips from me being a little rough with my hands.

These Dermelect ME polishes retail for $14 so it is a higher end polish. If it does what it says it does it's worth the money. I tend to think the claims Dermelect makes are legit because Launchpad really is a fantastic product which I found did do everything it promised for my nails.

What do you think of this one? Do you have any Dermelect ME polishes?

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer: Blue Screen of Death

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you a gorgeous blue shimmer from Pomegranate Nail Lacquer. This color is called Blue Screen of Death and it's a royal blue with turquoise shimmer throughout. The shimmer is so intense and amazing in person, I don't think my photos do it justice. Trust me on this, the shimmer makes this color so unique and beautiful. I got TONS of compliments when I had this on.

I used two coats for the opacity shown below, you can see some of my nail line in the first photo, which was taken with a flash, but it was not noticiable in real life. This wore really well for several days before I started to notice any tip wear.

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer can be purchased on their website for $9.00.   Pomegranate Nail Lacquer is "3-free" which means it contains NO toluene, formaldehyde, or dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and the company also does not test on animals, which I know is a big issue for some.  They have really interesting color selections and their names are so fun. Be sure to check out their site. I have two more colors from them to feature so be on the lookout.

On a side note, it's official, I am a nail polish hoarder. We all knew this before but it's BAD now. I have officially filled two entire Helmers with nail polish. I now need a third.  My husband said if there's ever a fire we are screwed!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Lime Crime: Parfait Day

PhotobucketHi everyone! It's another Pink Wednesday and today I have a brand new polish to share with you all. This is Parfait Day by Lime Crime. Lime Crime just started making polish and was kind enough to send me some to try. This is the first one I pulled out to try and I have to say, I'm impressed.  I haven't tried anything else from Lime Crime but have seen them featured on many YouTube channels I watch.

Parfait Day is a strawberry milkshake pink creme. It's super pigmented and was opaque in just two coats. The color is really bright, almost neon but has enough white in the base to stay more like a hot pink pastel. Sometimes polishes this pigmented are trouble to apply, but I didn't feel like this one was difficult to apply at all. I was able to achieve full and even opacity with just two coats.  It was not chalky at all but needs a topcoat for sure or can look slightly dull, and with a color like this you don't want dull. It doesn't dull out the same way a neon would but it's not glossy like some polishes.

I really like this one though I am not sure this color works for me. I don't think I pull off these sorts of pinks well.  I think it might make a really nice pedicure color.

This polish, along with several other colors I will feature shortly, is available on the Lime Crime website for $5.99 each which is super affordable! The bottles are slightly smaller than the average polish but I still think that $5.99 is a great bargain. These come packaged in really cute boxes too, which is a plus. And come on, who doesn't adore the unicorn on the bottle?

What do you think of Parfait Day? Have you checked out Lime Crime's other polishes? Which one would you most like to try?!

Zoya: Fei Fei (Diva Collection)

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was great but went by too fast! Yesterday I bought a new watch. I have been wanting one for a while but have been too cheap to purchase it.  I love the Rose Gold Michael Kors watch that is all the rage right now but the $250.00 price tag was a bit hard to swallow for someone who never wears a watch. I wanted the look but I didn't want to pay the price, just in case I did not enjoy wearing a watch everyday. So I went shopping. I ended up at Macy's and saw that Fossil has a watch nearly identical to the Kors watch I was eyeing but 1/2 the price. SCORE! I love it!

Do you like it?

On to the polish... Today I want to show you a color from Zoya's fall collection.  This is from the Diva portion of the collection and it's called Fei Fei. Alright, now here's a quick rant about Zoya's names: My name is Gina. There is no Gina nail polish. Zoya names it's polishes with women's names.  So there's no Gina but there's a Fei Fei? Wow!

Anyway, this polish is STUNNING. It's simply my favorite from the collection.  Zoya calls it a "magic blue foil sparkle metallic". It's a deep blue packed with tons of sparkle that are so many different colors I can't even make them out.  It's stunning in the sunlight and I wish my photos captured just how insanely beautiful and unique this one is. Trust me, you need this one. It's amazing.

I used three coats because it is on the sheer side but I had no issues with application.

Is this gorgeous or what? My photos do not do it justice but I promise it's worth adding to your collection. I have nothing like it.

Nicole By OPI: My Empire... My Rules (Kardashian Kolors)

Hello polish addicts. How are you all doing? I  hope you all had a nice weekend. I did!! I love summertime because it seems like there's always something to do on the weekends. I wonder if it's busy all year long in areas where the weather is gorgeous all year?

Today I want to share a color from the Kardashian Kolors collection by Nicole by OPI. This is My Empire... My Rules which I think is a pretty cute name. Those ladies sure do have an empire on their hands. I am not sure what the appeal is, but hey, if you can make money by doing nothing, go for it!

My Empire... My Rules is a greige/taupe creme color similar to OPI's You Don't Know Jacques. Someday I will have to do a massive taupe comparison because I know you all probably feel like you see the same colors over and over again. While many are similar I do think there are tons of variations on taupe, albeit subtle ones, but variations nonetheless.  Let me know if you're interested in a taupe comparison. This one is on the darker side of most taupes. I think it'd work for many skin tones. I like this one, I tend to like taupes. Formula is beautiful, I had no issues with application at all.

What do you think of this one? What is your favorite taupe color?

Color Club: Fly With Me

Hi everyone! I hope all of my fellow Americans had a wonderful Independence Day. I didn't do anything but I did enjoy the day off.  I am so lazy I didn't do a festive 4th of July manicure. Sorry folks! If you haven't checked out Man Polish yet I highly suggest you do for some laughs. He wrote a hilarious post on the 4th of July Manicure. He's getting a lot of attention in the blogosphere lately and it's well deserved. Kudos to you Man Polish for coming up with a fun and unique blog idea!

Today I have a color from Color Club's Take Wing collection called Fly With Me. It's a sheer lime green with tons of shimmer that reflects all kinds of colors form green to yellow to blue to orange even. It's got an interesting finish.  To me it's very yellow based but I have seen swatches where it's much more green looking.  I can tell you that in indoor lighting it will look more green that my swatches but outside it looks just like my swatches, to me at least.  This is not a color I will find myself wearing often but it's nice enough.

This color is really sheer so I did need three coats for the opacity shown in the photos. It's not 100% opaque with the three but it's good enough for me. The polish applied smoothly with no streaking or balding. I used Seche Vite over the top like I always do but if you're someone who skips a top coat (blasphemy I tell you!) don't do it with this one, it will be pretty dull.

What do you think of Fly With Me? Is it a color you have to have or something you'll skip?

Tell me, what did you do on the 4th of July?

Pure Ice: Eyes of Steel, Lightening Strikes & Silver Mercedes

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I have some colors from the Pure Ice Five Shades of Grey collection to share with you.  These are losely based on the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomena. Have any of you read the books? I got sucked in by co-workers but I am only on book 2 because I am a little bored with it. Oh well!!!

First up I have the color Eyes of Steel topped with Lightening Strikes Crackle.  I am not the hugest fan of crackle, I am so over it but for some reason I felt like wearing this combo and actually left it on for three days! It's just a regular silver crackle.  Eyes of Steel is a dark charcoal frost color that you can barely see when the crackle is on top. It's a true frost finish so that means sort of streaky and unruly.

Next up is Silver Mercedes which is a light silver frost. I only needed one coat for the opacity shown below so that's pretty cool.  The color is a frost and can lead to streaking if you don't watch out but I think it came out pretty decent with just one coat. What do you think?

I am not a huge fan of frosts or crackles so these didn't get me too excited. I do however enjoy Pure Ice lacquers and I enjoy their price even more. Pure Ice is found at Walmart and last I checked they were like $2.50 so you can't go wrong. Some of my favorite polishes are from Pure Ice, these just aren't among them. They're not bad, just not for me.  The crackle worked well and had a nice design and the one coat opacity is always a great thing, I just don't rock silver or frost often enough to call these favs.

Have you tried the Pure Ice brand? What are some of your favorite Pure Ice colors? I have Pure Ice at my Walmart stores but their selection has gone down a lot over the years, they used to carry so many colors, now just a handful. I have also seen Pure Ice at Walgreens.

Have a great day!
