OPI: Suzi Loves Cowboys (Texas Collection)

Hello everyone! I hope those of you who had a long weekend enjoyed it! I had a fantastic weekend with my husband. I got a lot of sun and had a lot of fun! I am sad to be back at work, I wish we had long weekends everyone week... okay, even every month would be good.

Today I want to share one of the polishes from the OPI Texas collection. This is Suzi Loves Cowboys. I was in a rush so I didn't write all the info I usually do on the photos but this is two coats and a top coat for reference.

Suzi Loves Cowboys is a rich dark chocolate brown color. I have been into the browns lately for some reason. When my nails are on the short side I tend to favor dark colors such as these. This reminds of me chocolate ganache or something. Yum!

This polish went on nicely with no real issues. It's slightly thicker than some other polishes but it didn't seem to cause much of a problem. I am getting used to the pro wide brush and making less of a mess with it now. This was opaque in just two coats but I did experience some slight balding which you can see on the pinky. Nothing major.

So what do you think? Do you sport the browns every once in a while? What are some of your favorite?!

China Glaze: Sunset Sail (Anchors Away Collection)

It's Friday, Friday!!! Woot!!! Everyone ready for the holiday weekend? Hubby and I  are going hiking tomorrow and maybe hitting a local amusement park on Sunday if the rain stays away (fat chance!!).

Today I have a color from the China Glaze Anchors Away Collection. Of course the weather has been crap so I wasn't able to get really great photos of these. This is becoming increasingly frustrating and I feel like the quality of my blog is suffering. I apologize, once again.

This is Sunset Sail which is a peachy color with teeny tiny beige microshimmer which is barely detectable in these photos because of the lack of sun. On me this color appears to be somewhat of a mannequin hands color. I wish these colors worked on me but I haven't really met a peach color that works on me yet.

The formula on this one is slightly thicker than China Glaze typically is. I had no true problems with application but I did notice the different, thick, consistency. I used two coats and achieved full opacity as shown.

So what do you think of this one? Does the peach tone work for you?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: nubar: Pink Lily

Once again here we are on Wednesday! Almost through the week of work and one  step closer to the long weekend! And you know what happens on Wednesday don't you? On Wednesday we wear pink! So the pink of the day today is nubar's Pink Lily. Nubar describes Pink Lily as a "vibrant pink creme".  It's a nice bright pink which leans pastel but has a little more peach to it than a typical baby pink.

Formula wise this was not my favorite. It's really opaque but it requires three coats because it goes on streaky and uneven. it absolutely requires the assistance of a glossy top coat for shine as it's sort of chalky on its own. It's not bad but it's just not the easiest thing to work with.

So are you a fan of this pink? Would you rock it?

Zoya: Rica (Sunshine Collection)

I apologize that I haven't had any real sun to take great photos. I am hoping with summer coming things will get better so please bear with me.

Today I want to show you Zoya's Rica  from the Sunshine Collection. Which Zoya describes as "Warm light coral with pink and orange tones and heavy gold metallic sparkle." Which is really a spot on description I think.  This color is really gorgeous for summer and will probably look amazing with a good tan or on darker skin tones! It's absolutely coral so if the photos appear red please ignore that, it's def a warm coral with pink tones.

I only needed two coats for opacity which is great because this is a finish that sometimes needs three coats to get rid of VNL. This is a metallic shimmer. The gold in this is similar to the gold in Zoya's Crystal which I highly recommend. I had no trouble with application and had not streaking or balding. Zoya is great!

So hit or miss for summer? If you're interested in picking it up now's the time to do it because you'll get two nail polishes for free. See my post on that here.

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender

It's Pink Wednesday again! So why do I have a color with lavender in the name? Isn't lavender purple? Ya, well I thought so too, but folks, this is pink to me. So here it is on Wednesday breaking lavender stereotypes.

So as stated, this is  OPI's Lucky Lucky Lavender which debuted with the Hong Kong collection I believe. I won this polish from the lovely Jessica, thanks Jessica! To me there's no question that this is a pink nail polish. It's purple toned, sure, but it's totally not purple to me.  It's really a pretty shade of pink. I think this is one of the most flattering shades of pink I own. I am sure it's because it does lean a bit purple and purples are my all time favorite!

The formula on this one is great. I need two coats for maximum opacity. The polish went on smooth with no balding or streaking.  It's a fabulous creme.

So it's pink right?

What are you wearing on this lovely Pink Wednesday?

China Glaze: Blue Iguana

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Back to the grind today though. It's dreary here today. It's supposed to rain all freekin' week. How annoying!!!

Today I want to share one of the colors from the China Glaze Island Escape summer collection. This is Blue Iguana.  It's a shimmery, semi-sheer, turquoise color. It's bright and fun!

The formula on this one is not my favorite. It's pretty sheer so that  annoys me a bit. The photos are three coats of polish and you can see some VNL is still apparent.  This polish would be so lovely if it was more opaque.

So what do you think of this one? Do you need it in your life. Have you had better luck with opacity?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink! Zoya: Areej

Good morning everyone! I thought it was time for me to join the fun other nail bloggers are having with Pink Wednesdays! I love this idea and I am making it a goal  to keep up with it! I don't favor pinks so this will make me go for them more often. Make sure you check out all of the amazing bloggers participating in this!!!!

The pink I chose today is Areej by Zoya.  Zoya describes this color as: "Soft, muted cool fuchsia pink with an opaque cream finish. A pink for when you want a bold pop of color but not something neon-bright."  To me it's a slightly purple toned pink, I can totally see the reference to the fuchsia.

This creme is extremely opaque. In fact, you can get  away with just one coat. My index finger in the photo is just one coat because I had to fix it before work this morning. I went to bed right after painting my nails last night and the sheet left indents! I hate when that happens. They're in the middle finger too but I couldn't be bothered to fix that.  But you can see, looking at the index  finger, that this color is insanely opaque. I love that! A + in that category for sure. Even though it's super pigmented the formula is just right, not too thicks. Sometimes really opaque colors are a nightmare to deal with, not this one.

I apologize for the indoor natural light photos, we haven't had much sun when I am able to paint!!! I know the outdoor photos come out much better.

So what do you think of this pink? Would you rock it on a Wednesday? What are you wearing today!

China Glaze: Cha Cha Cha (Island Escape Collection)

Happy Monday my friends.  I hope all you mother's had a great mother's day and I hope everyone else treated their mom to something nice!

It's finally starting to be nice out here. We still have some really cold days and tons of rain but it's been getting better. I am doing a "Boot Camp" with some of the girls from work on Mon, Wed. and Thurs. We're working our butts off to get in shape. Last week was week one of four, I was so sore! Today kicks off week two! Wish me luck!!!

Today I have a color from China Glaze's Island Escape collection to share with you.  This is Cha Cha Cha which China Glaze describes as a "vivacious shimmer green."  It reminds me of sour green apple Blow Pops!  It's a vibrant green apple green with shimmer.

While I love this color I don't love it on my nails. I can't see many occasions for me to break out the crazy green shimmer but it's got a place in my Helmer nonetheless.

The formula on this one was okay but I needed three coats for full opacity. I think it's more opaque than some of the other colors in the Island Escape collection but it's very sheer on the first two coats. It might even benefit from four.  Other than opacity I didn't have any issues with application. It was not streaky at all just sheer.

Did you pick this one up or are you skipping it?

Essie: Sand Tropez

Hi everyone! I've been so bad at posting lately! I am so sorry!!! I suck! Today I have an Essie color to share. I haven't really posted many Essie polishes lately, so why not!?

This is Essie's Sand Tropez which is from their redesigned drugstore available line.  So the bottle is different (read cheap looking) and the color name is on a sticker on top of the handle.  I got this at CVS. I only bought it because I had some coupons because I am annoyed that CVS has these for $8.75. What the hell is that? When Essie was Salon only its   MSRP was $8. So why is it more expensive now that it's in CVS and Wal-mart. Not cool. I really resent that!

Oh well. This color is a nice taupe/gray nude color. It's different from all of the taupes out there but it leans towards being just another gray to me. In the bottle it looks more brownish but on my nails it's def. just another light gray. I love colors like this but I don't need 40 bottles of the same color. I suppose it is ever so slightly differnent than the grays in my collection but it's not 100% unique. Oh well.

Formula was good. It was fully opaque in two coats and went on with no issues. The Essie brush is very small so don't expect to do the old 3 swipe application with this one. That's really the only thing.

So are you a fan of Sand Tropez? What do you think of the new, L'Oreal owned Essie? Do you see it in your drugstores? How are the prices near you?
