Office Polish-tics: Raquel's Wild Nails

Hello everyone! Today's my birthday and I walked into this in my office this morning. It put a smile on my face for sure.  My co-workers got me great generous gifts and they didn't have to buy me a thing! I love birthdays!!!!!

Tonight my husband and I are going for dinner at my parents' house, my mom is making chicken parm which is my favorite. She also made a carrot cake from scratch so I am so excited to see how that turned out.

Keeping with the office theme today, here's another edition of Office Polish-tics, where I show you my co-workers' nails. Today I am showing Raquel's nails again because these are so much fun!!!! She said the guy who does her nails said she's boring for always getting regular white tips so she let him go wild, and wild he did!!!! I am digging these fun alternating color/animal print designs.

So what do you think of Racquel's nails!?

Zoya: Lara

Well, yesterday was Pink Wednesday but I failed to post so today I have a pink for your pleasure.  Sorry about that guys!!!

This is Zoya's Lara Which Zoya describes as a medium magenta rose pink.  I think the promo images of this make it look a lot more on the vibrant hot pink side than my images show, I think my images, on my screen, look color accurate. Pinks have their place but there's a million and one of them and many look the same. Nothing particularly unique about this shade but it's a pretty one.

I only needed two coats for flawless, fully opaque coverage.  It wasn't as thick as I found Arizona to be and I had no issues with application at all.

Tomorrow is my birthday. One year closer to the dreaded 30; I'll be 28.  I feel like it was just yesterday I was in high school but when I look back at old photos I realize it was a long long time ago. It makes me sad :( Oh well, birthdays should be fun so I will try not to think of 30, I'm not there yet!

I hope you all entered my giveaway but if not there's till time! Click here! Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Butter London: Trout Pout Lacquer & Lippy

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. My husband and I went hiking on Saturday morning and it was really nice.  It was supposed to rain all weekend but Saturday ended up being nice. Sunday, no so much, and it looks like this week is going to be rainy and dreary too. Boo!!! Oh well! Our hike was nice but we saw three HUGE, I mean HUGE snakes.  Two were off the trail but made so much noise we thought there was a deer or something, then the other scared me to death on the walking trail. These things were HUGE, like 4 feet long or more. They were harmless snakes but creepy! Good thing I am not totally terrified of them, I just go thrown off guard!

This is one of our favorite spots, you have to climb up the rocks/waterfall to get here and the photo doesn't do it justice because it's GIANT!

Photobucket

Warning, snake photos ahead!

The first one we saw off the path, this was huge. Look closely:

This is the one that made me scream. As we were walking I caught it out of the corner of my eye. I jumped a mile a screamed so it slithered off into the brush:

I told you they were huge!!! Yuck!!!!

On to the polish... today I have some goodies from Butter London to share with you. Butter London now has lip gloss, called Lippy, that matches some of the nail polish shades. Today I am going to show you both the nail polish and lippy in the color Trout Pout. Trout Pout is described by Butter London as a creamy peach-cantaloupe color. It's the perfect spring/summer peach!

This polish applied better and lasted longer than the Butter London polishes I have tried before. This is my first Butter London creme color so maybe it makes a difference. I used three coats for the opacity shown but probably could have gotten away with just two.  I had no issues with balding or streaking and I think my nails came out pretty good.

The corresponding lippy is the same color and very pretty. These retail for $17.00 so they are pretty pricey.  The formula is thick and sticky so you have to enjoy a sticky gloss. I found it a little difficult to apply without streaks but eventually it worked out.

These smell divine. To me it's like a fresh melon with a bit of a floral hint. Don't get nervous at the floral reference, it's subtle and the melon dominates. It's very nice!

I am new to taking lip photos so sorry these aren't "pro".

Overall I love having matching nails and lips. Sounds silly but it works out so nicely.  I really enjoy that there is an available lip gloss for some of the more lip gloss like colors Butter London offers.  I love the smell! I do find them a bit too thick but I also find MAC gloss thick so it might just be me. Still a nice product.

Have you tried any of the Butter London Lippy-s? What do you think of them? Which one would you want to try most?  What do you think of the lacquer?

I hope you all entered my giveaway! If not, get on it ;-)

I hope you all had a great weekend. I did! On Saturday night my sister took me to see The Fray as an early birthday present. We'd seen them live once before and loved it so we were excited. They were, just as last time, excellent. If you like their music and have a chance to see them live, DO IT! They are really interactive with the crowd, Issac even went into the seats and sang which was amazing.  Issac also read a fan letter on stage and asked a boy to the prom for the girl who wrote it. That was so cute and priceless.

My husband went with my sister and me since the show was at the casino, and he played poker all night. When the concert was over he was playing 3 card poker at one of the tables so my sister and I watched for a while. He'd lost some decent money already in the night and was frustrated. He said "when these chips are gone we'll leave". As he put his final $30 bet down on the table he was frustrated with his luck. The three cards were dealt and he turned them over to reveal Ace of Spades, King of Spades and Queen of Spades. Could it be? A royal flush!? The man next to him saw the cards and his eyes about popped out of his head. My husband was shocked and I don't think he believed it. He set the cards down for a minute, then picked them back up and placed his bet.  The dealer was like "do you realize you just won the jackpot? I never dealt a jackpot hand before!" We were so excited but hubby was still in shock.  He'd won! It was the 3 card poker progressive jackpot, just under $6,000.00. Sweet!!!  Oh man, what an act of congress! The pit boss came over, counted all the cards like a dozen times to make sure it was legit. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes to get paid (by check, not chips) and countless amounts of paperwork.... of course TAXES too. BOOO!!! When all was said and done he walked away with a $4000.00 check *yup they took about 2k in TAXES, buzzkill! It was still so cool that his night turned around like that! Yay for winning big!

Anyway... on to the polish!

Today I have a color from Zoya's summer collection called Zuza when i saw the promo images for this collection this was the color I was most excited about. Zoya describes this as "deep, saturated, oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish. A beachy, colorful, foil-like shade with the perfect balance between blue and green." I honestly think it looks prettier in the press images vs. real life but it's still a super pretty shade. I love the shimmer in this, it appears almost textured.

This was super opaque and pretty thick. I had no issues with application and needed just two coats for the opacity shown below.

I guess I thought this one was going to be jelly like from the promo images but it's not. On the contrary, it's super opaque. I still like it but I was hoping for a gorgeous jelly! You know?! Oh well!

So how do you feel about this one? Do you own it? How do you like it? Sound off below!!!!!

NYX: Moonwalk

Happy Friday readers! I hope you're all in for a fun weekend. Tomorrow, my sister is taking me to see The Fray in  concert. We've seen them live once before and they were super great! I am excited for the show tomorrow. It's her early birthday present to me. What are your plans for the weekend?

Today I am wearing NYX Advanced Salon Formula in Moonwalk. Moonwalk is a black/gray jelly base with silver and holographic glitter and hex glitter.  It's really pretty when the light hits it, the glitter reflects a rainbow of colors.

I used three coats for the opacity shown and it may have benefited from either a forth coat or a bottom coat of just plain black. The formula was pretty sheer but thick, which sounds like a contradiction but it's true! Unlike some polishes with hex glitter this glitter went on well and in abundance.

So far the polishes I have tried from the NYX Advanced Salon Formula line have been just okay. Each have been sheer and I find them to have an odd goopy texture that doesn't really dry quickly enough for me, even with Seche Vite. I love the Lippman-esque bottle shape though and they have an really fantastic color selection. I will continue to use them but I am not sold that they are the best. You certainly cannot skip top coat with these (never do anyway but it's a claim they make)

So what do you think of this one? Love it or hate it? Have you tried this line of polish? What are your thoughts.

Have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for reading!

Zoya: Arizona

Hello beautiful people! Thanks for stopping by and reading the blog today! I hope you're all having a nice week. Today I have a color to show you from Zoya's Beach collection.  This is Arizona which is an orange sherbert creme polish.  This is a pretty hot color for this year and I dig it.  It's bright and fun, it borders on neon on me but it looks cool!

The formula of this one is okay, but not the best. It's super pigmented which made it really thick and a little tough to apply.  The end result was fine, no issues with balding or anything, just took some care to put on. I used two coats for the opacity shown in the photos.

Have you tried this one? What do you think?

You can purchase Zoya online.  They have a new program called share the love, where you can earn points for referring friends.  This is my referral link. You do not have to use it if you do not want to. I do not want to pressure anyone to use it.  I have reviewed many Zoya products and love most of them so I am comfortable recommending them.  I just want to be upfront that that is a share the love link, no hiding the ball here on my blog!

Note on comments: I still don't know what to do with my comments. You cannot see the link to comment under the posts. I only see it when I click on each individual post.  If you're on the main page and search comments with Ctrl+F then you can find it, it's like it's off to the side of the post, I don't get it. Any suggestions?

Nicole by OPI: Kim Konfidential & Here Kim's the Sun

Good morning everyone! Can it really be April already? My birthday is the 27th, so like I have done in the past, be on the lookout for a birthday giveaway! I have been compiling polishes for ages now, so I can't wait to show you what I have up my sleeve for the winner. Stay tuned!

Today I have two Nicole by OPI polishes to show you, these are Kardashian polishes. The first is Kim Konfidential and it's a honey nude color. When I think of Kim Kardashian I think of nude lipstick, so this nude polish seems like something she actually would wear.  I actually like the color, it's really wearable nude for me. I thought I wouldn't like it because of the yellow tones but it works. I always seem to think that when I see a yellow toned nude, but they always work, so I need to get out of that mindset!

I used two coats for opacity and they went on smooth. I was surprised at how opaque this one was.

Next up I have Here Kim's the Sun which is a glittery top coat.  This has nothing to do with the polish but why is there and apostrophe in the name? She's not possessing anything... it's supposed to be like "comes" that's just annoying.

This is a really pretty glitter top coat, really too sheer to wear on its own, though you can see it has a sort of tint, but honestly the base might as well be clear. I used two coats on top of  Kim Konfidential.

What do you think of these?

How was everyone's weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting?I had a nice weekend. I took my mom to afternoon tea at this local tea room which was so cute! Then we went shopping. Saturday night my husband and  I went to visit my nephew and brother-in-law and sister-in-law for dinner. Then yesterday I went with my hubby for sushi and then  to see Wrath of the Titans which was ok.

Oh, by the way, the poll results are in and 18 of you wanted to see more detailed reviews of the OPI ballet collection, 11 said no, so lookout for those reviews soon! Thank you all for voting.
