Pure Ice "Platinum"

Hi readers! Today I have a cheap but good one for you. Pure Ice is a really great brand sold at Walmart for just $2 a bottle. I have had good luck with Pure Ice polishes, I find them to be really high quality for the price.

This is Pure Ice "Platinum" which is a silvery/white/pearl frost polish. Color wise I have to say this is more silver on my nails than it appears in the bottle. I thought that this was going to be more of a white frost but it's pretty silver which was sort of a bummer.

The formula on this was easy to work with and opaque in just 2 coats. I am always impressed with the formula of this brand. I am not huge on frost formulas but every once in a while I wear one. I don't like the streaks that are inevitable with frost but this was bearable.

What's your favorite color from Pure Ice?

My 100th Blog Post Featuring Sinful Colors "Rise and Shine"

Happy Monday readers!!! This is my 100th blog post! (Time flies when you're having fun, eh?) I am so happy that I started this blog. I'd tried blogging before and never really found my voice until Prim and Polished. I am really having so much fun writing this blog so thank you all for following along with me. :-)

I have lots of swatches in the works as always and I also plan to do a post on how I take care of my natural nails. A facebook user suggested that and I haven't forgotten I just have to put some stuff together for that post so look out for that in the next month or two.

Last week Walgreens had Sinful Colors polishes on sale buy one get one 1/2 off, which means they were $3 for two polishes - good deal! So I picked up a few, including this gorgeous shimmery teal "Rise and Shine".

This color is really so pretty but I am not 100% sure I love it on my nails. I am undecided. I think I like it but I don't love it. The finish on this is interesting; it's not a true frost IMO but it's got a really subtle shimmer to it.

The formula on this is not so great. Usually I find Sinful Colors to have a great formula but this was thick and sort of difficult to work with. It cleaned up easily so it's not a big deal but I wouldn't consider this to be as high quality as some of the other Sinful Colors polishes I have tried.

So what do you think of "Rise and Shine"? Do you wear colors like this often?

Essie "Pop Art Pink"

Good afternoon everyone! Today I have a swatch of Essie's "Pop Art Pink" which came out with the Art of Spring Collection earlier this year. Essie describes this color as "a sheer chiffon pink" which sounds accurate to me. It's a light milky semi sheer pink. I say semi sheer because as you can see in the photos I was able to achieve opacity with 3 coats. Note though if your nails are any longer than this you will probably have more trouble achieving opacity and will have to deal with the dreaded visible nail line (I had this on longer nails before and 3 coats still had some VNL).

I think this would make nice pedi color for those times when you want something sort of neutral on your tootsies.

The formula was okay, better to work with than some of the others in the collection. It wasn't too think so it didn't make too much of a mess.

I probably won't wear this one too often. Maybe once I find employment I will rock this in the office but daily it's not really for me. I prefer a more opaque baby pink like China Glaze's "Something Sweet". I just cannot deal with any VNL.
