Frosty the Snowman Nails

Hi everyone! This is a design inspired by a post by thatleanne  I saw her design and just had to try it myself. I used China Glaze's Sea Spray for the base and China Glaze's Snow Globe for the glitter, and then for the white I used China Glaze's Snow, for the black I used Color Secret's Little Black Book, for the green I used Essie's Pretty Edgy and the orange I used Sally Hansen's Sun Kissed. I am slowly but surely getting better at this  nail art thing.

Hope you enjoy!!! Head over to thaleanne's blog to see how to do this, step by step. If I can do it, so can you!

As always, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my blog (and to comment, I love comments). It means a lot to me! I hope you have a fantastic holiday, whatever holiday you celebrate!

I used the following colors: China Glaze Ruby Deer, a White Striper, China Glaze Snow, Zoya Chantel, Nuber Toasted Marshmallow, China Glaze Dance Baby, Color Secrets Little Black Book, and Essie Little Brown Dress

So what do you think? I am really excited about them! Please let me know if you've done any cool holiday nails.

Easy and Festive Holiday Nail Art

Hi Everyone! Today I have some fun and festive holiday nails to share with you. Excuse my dry skin in the photos, that's what happens when it is freezing! Last week I painted my nails white, which is something I rarely do. I actually really liked the look of just the stark white but after a day and 1/2 I got tried of it and decided to jazz it up a bit. Here's what I came up with, and it couldn't be easier.

The white for the base is OPI's Alpine Snow, I used three coats for the opacity shown. I used these dotting tools from Born Pretty to go in and create the dots.  I went with the following festive colors all by China Glaze, Phat Santa, Jolly Holly, Ruby Dear and Mistletoe Kisses. All I did was go in with a few different sized dotting tools and randomly placed the dots on the top and middle of my nails. It could not be simpler. I just take a thick piece of paper and place a tiny dab of the color I want to dot onto the nail. I do this one at a time to avoid the nail polish drying. Then I dot away.

I think the end result is pretty cool, if I do say so myself. This takes no real nail art skills just some time, and honestly not much of it.

What do you think of these nails for the season?

Take a look at a similar design by Heather (Kira) at Peace, Love and Polish. Great minds think a like!!! How funny !! Thanks for sharing in the comments Heather!

Zoya: Bevin & Opal and China Glaze: Gaga For Green

Good morning everyone.   Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day so of course I have to post some green polish for your pleasure; it just wouldn't be right if I didn't.  I have two to show you, I guess technically three but you know what I mean.

First up is Zoya's Bevin topped with Zoya's Opal. Bevin is from the True collection and you can see my full review of it here. Opal  is from the Fleck Effect Collection which was released around the same time as the True collection.  Opal is mostly for use as a top coat as the base is a really sheer green color.  You could wear it alone but it's more of a glaze than anything else.  The polish is packed with tons of reflective flakies that flash green, pink and blue to my eye.  Zoya's description never mentions it flashing pink but I think you can see in the photos below that it does for sure. I think it pairs well over Bevin if you want to keep it green, but I think it'd look best over something more dark.

I used two coats of Opal over Bevin for the look shown below.

The next green I want to show you is China Glaze's Gaga for Green. This is a bright green creme from the Electro Pop collection.

This has that wonderful jelly creme hybrid finish that I was showing you in the newer Nubar polishes. I just love this finish, the opacity of a creme with the high shine finish of a jelly. What could be better?

I did use three coats for the opacity shown, so don't get me wrong it's not incredibly opaque but I'll slap on that extra coats for the shine any day than take a one coater! It applied well, no streaking or balding and it has lasted through this entire week. (I have been to lazy to lacquer LOL).

So of these, which do you like best?  Will you be rocking green on St. Patrick's Day? Which one will you sport?

Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow to you all. Even if you're not Irish and just want to drink some green beer and enjoy a green bagel have fun and be safe.  I don't plan to do anything special for the day but I did decorate my home a little with St. Patrick's Day things. I am such a dork!

China Glaze: Fast Track

Hi everyone! Today's post is a bit late but better late than never.  Today was a beautiful day here in Connecticut, I am so happy it's finally starting to feel like spring. I hope it stays this nice!

Today I want to show you a color from China Glaze's  Capitol Colors collection which was inspired by the upcoming Hunger Games movie.  I am so excited to see the Hunger Games because I adored the books, so when I saw the polish collection I was really excited.

I went  to several Sally Beauty supply stores in search of this particular color because when I saw swatches on other blogs I love I knew I had to have it in my life. I am so happy I finally found it, and what do you know, it was in the Sally Beauty right in my city. Here I was going all over the place and it was right there, close to home. Go figure!

So this is Fast Track. I love this color. China Glaze calls it a "soft sandy brown with gold metallic shimmer" and that's accurate to me. It's like shimmering sands. The gold shimmer in this is absolutely incredible looking. I love this because it's sort of a nude/neutral color but the gold makes it so interesting and unique.

The formula in this is a bit on the thin side and I needed three coats to achieve full opacity. On two coats I had some bald areas, three seemed to work just right for me.

Gorgeous right? I just love it!
Have you noticed that we're seeing quite a lot of these sorts of shimmers lately? I am loving this season's take on shimmer with the metallic microshimmer finishes. What do you think of this trend?

China Glaze: Colours From the Capitol (Hunger Games)

I don't typically like to bombard you with press releases since so many bloggers also receive them but this is a collection I am very excited for so I had to share. Here's what China Glaze has to say about the collection:

This collection of 12 new nail polish shades is inspired exclusively by one distinct setting in The Hunger Games- the Capitol of the nation of Panem.  Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for this collection. I am a HUGE Hunger Games fan and if you haven't read the books then GO GET THEM NOW! LOL but seriously they are so wonderful!

Which are you the most excited for? I can't wait to see Fast Track and Luxe and Lush

China Glaze: Tinsel Town (Let it Snow Collection)

Another Monday! I hope you all had a nice weekend! Let me say, at the risk of sounding like everyone else out there, where has this year gone? Can it really be December already! I am shocked at how fast this year went for me!!!

Today I have a color from China Glaze's Let it Snow collection. This is Tinsel Town which China Glaze describes as: – "Bold silver, metallic glitter and the perfect match for sparkling night on the town." The bases is not so much silver as it is charcoal if that's not a nit-picky distinction. It's jam packed with silver metallic glitter and then larger pieces of silver glitter as well.  This color is very similar to the Kardashian Colors by Nicole By OPI: Follow Me On Glitter except the Nicole by OPI version's larger particles are rainbow colored instead of just silver. They're incredibly close though.  The smaller particles of glitter in this one make it really sparkly and fun to wear.  It's a little darker than what'd I'd expect to see around the holidays but it's festive enough.

I am surprised that I like how this one applied. Sometimes glitters are too gritty for me. This one is fine and I only needed two coats for the opacity shown.  Don't get me wrong it still has the glitter texture but it's nothing a good coat of Seche Vite can't tame!

Overall I like this one and I think it works for any time of year. What say you?
