OPI: My Dogsled is a Hybrid

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Today I want to share a gorgeous new creme from OPI. This is My Dogsled is a Hybrid. Disclosure: This is a press sample.

I love this color. I think it's perfect for summer and right on into the fall. It's a gorgeous blue green creme and what I love about it is that it doesn't have too much white so it doesn't wash out my skin tone. Sometimes these Tiffany style blues can do that. Not the case here. This stays shiny and perfect. Love it!

Two coats for perfect coverage, no complaints at all about the formula. Love it.

What do you think about this one?

Let me know what you think of this one? I am a huge fan!

L.A. Girl: Turntable (Disco Brites)

Hello there everybody! Today I want to share a nail polish I bought several years ago at some random beauty supply store. This is L.A. Girl's Turntable, which is part of their Disco Brites collection. The premise behind that collection is that the colors glow under a black light. Well, it's not 1998, and I don't have a black light handy so I cannot tell you if that is the case, but what I can tell you is that this polish rocks, and so do the other polishes I have tried from the collection.

Turntable is a bright turquoise creme with a super high shine finish, that's what I love about this polish, the finish is just perfect. I used two coats for full opacity and even though my bottle is several years old and well loved, this thing went on like butter. Just lovely.

I have found L.A. Girl polishes at several no name beauty supply stores in my area. You can also purchase them online (for like $4) from places like cherryculture.com. I am a big fan of this line, for the price the quality is just perfect.

What L.A. Girl polishes have you tried? Any recommendations on ones I need in my life?

P.S. now I have the sudden urge to take a walk down memory lane, head to Spencer Gifts, and purchase a black light. LOL ;-)

Nicole by OPI: Candid Cameron with Maybelline Color Show: Sea-Quins

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Today I have two colors to show you.  Apologies for the photos because I was having trouble with lighting when I took these. I took these when it was gloomy out, which is was for WEEKS here. It's much sunnier now, knock on wood, but these were taken in less than ideal lighting.

This manicure uses Nicole by OPI's Candid Cameron, which is part of the Modern Family Collection. It's a dark teal/turquoise shimmer. It's absolutely stunning.  The formula only required two coats for opacity and went on perfectly.

As I was applying it I eyed a gorgeous glitter of a similar shade on my desk so I decided to do an accent nail with it. That glitter is Maybelline Color Show in the color Sea-Quins from the limited edition Sequins line. This glitter is absolutely stunning and matches Candid Cameron perfectly! Sea-Quins is a teal and blue glitter suspended in a teal jelly base. I love how it looked over that color. I only did an accent nail because I hate removing glitter but I loved the combo so much I think I will probably do an entire manicure with the two  polishes at some point. I love it when a plan comes together LOL.

This is the first Maybelline polish I have tried and I really love it. I will have to go to CVS and pick some other colors up to share with you all and see how the non glitters are. This one is absolutely beautiful though!

What do you think of these two colors and the combo? Have you tried any Maybelline Color Show polishes? Which are your favorites?

Truimph: Turquoise Jewel and Lollipop

Hi everyone! Today I have two polishes to show you from a brand new line of lacquers by Everything Bridal and More. They have just created and are in the process of launching a new line of polishes called Triumph. They sent me two to try out.

First up is Turquoise Jewel (Matte) which is a true turquoise color with tons of pearly micro-shimmer throughout.  It does have a true matte finish but my photos are showing it a bit glosy because I added a top coat. I am not too into mattes, for some reason the feeling of that dry polish surface freaks me out LOL. So I added the top coat and think it makes this one gorgeous. But if you do like matte polishes I assure you this does dry to a true matte finish with no glossiness whatsoever.

I used two coats which gave me full opacity. The formula was typical of a matte polish in that it dried super fast. I had no issues with balding or streaking on this at all.

Sorry for the typo in the first photo. I am too lazy to edit it LOL. My bad!

Next up is Lollipop which is an orange jelly color. It's a well balanced orange in that it's not too red and not too yellow. It's a true jelly finish and requires more than two coats if you want it to be opaque. I love a good jelly, VNL and all, and this one is quite nice. It's got that squishy glass like finish too it. I love the shine on a proper jelly and this one delivers.

Like with any jelly polish you will see your nail line if your nails are semi long. This one isn't to noticeable  maybe on the middle finger, but I only did two coats for the photos.

This last photo is a bit blurry. Sorry!

Overall these are two solid polishes. I have no idea how much they will retail for but I do know they are being put out by Everything Bridal and More. They're good quality and I would like to see the price point/color selection etc.  I will keep my eyes peeled for that information and pass it on when I get it.

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer: Curator & Cardigan

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been MIA lately but my camera BROKE :( so I haven't been able to take good photos. The ones below were taken with my old camera, the one I had when I first started the blog. They're okay photos but not as good as the camera that broke. I think I was too hard on it in Bermuda and it's just destroyed. It's only about 1.5 years old too. Oh well. I did go out and get a new camera which I am excited for. It's a Canon Rebel T3. I didn't go with the T3i because it was sooooo expensive and this will be my first D- SLR so there will be a learning curve. Please give me a little while to work with it and learn how to use it. I expect once I get the hang of it I will have great quality photos but we will see.

Today I have two gorgeous polishes to show you from Pomegranate Nail Lacquer. I have loved everything I have tried from this brand and these two beauties are no exception.

First up is Curator. This is a rich black with tons of gold and silver glitter. This color is GORGEOUS. I got so many compliments while wearing this one. I love the mixture of gold and silver in this, it makes it a pretty unique polish in my book.

The formula was awesome. It went on smoothly and the glitter was evenly disbursed on application. Sometimes glitter, especially large particle glitter, is difficult to get onto the nail, no so with this one. This polish is PACKED with glitter.

Removal was EASY! I was shocked at this. I was DREADING removing this one. I didn't even have to use the foil method, I did not have to soak my nails. I just removed like I normally do with a basic cotton pad and some acetone. This glitter came right off. Color me amazed.

Next up is Cardigan  which is not even close to the color it photographs. I am so upset I was not able to capture the true color of this polish because it's absolutely stunning. It's much deeper, darker and jewel toned than it appears in my photos. It is NOT a light teal it's a rich dark teal. I am so bummed that this didn't photograph properly because the color in real life is stunning.

This polish, in real life, is a true dark teal jelly. It's super shiny and squishy looking in person. I used three coats and got pretty much full opacity but you can still tell it's that fun jelly finish.

I really love this one and wish you could see the amazing color. If my new camera gets the color better I will repost. Trust me on this though, it's stunning. If you love jellies you'll love this one!

So what do you think of these gorgeous colors? Have you tried anything from Pomegranate? I highly recommend checking them out. They have some really unique and fun colors and they're pretty affordable at $9 a bottle. Everything I have tried from them has be top notch quality and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the brand to anyone.

Zoya: Wednesday

Hello hello! I probably should have posted this yesterday since it was Wednesday but I am not that clever.  This is Zoya's Wednesday  which Zoya describes as a:  "faded dirty medium turquoise with green undertone and an opaque cream finish." This is such a pretty creme color reminiscent of that ever so famous little Tiffany box.

I had no issues with application and this lovely polish was opaque in just two coats. I love the high gloss shine finish on this one!

As a side note: COME ON ZOYA! Wednesday? Really? Wednesday? You don't have a Gina but you have Wednesday? Come on! Zoya names their polish after women and yet there's no Gina but there's a freekin Wednesday... not to mention Fei Fei, Noot, Daul and Coco!!! Come on! LOL. In all seriousness there's nothing wrong with any of those names but I'd love to see a Gina someday. I was always the kid on school trips looking for the Gina Key Chain, mug or bracelet to no avail.  To be fair I see Gina more often lately but come on Zoya where's "my" polish!?!?!

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer: Blue Screen of Death

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you a gorgeous blue shimmer from Pomegranate Nail Lacquer. This color is called Blue Screen of Death and it's a royal blue with turquoise shimmer throughout. The shimmer is so intense and amazing in person, I don't think my photos do it justice. Trust me on this, the shimmer makes this color so unique and beautiful. I got TONS of compliments when I had this on.

I used two coats for the opacity shown below, you can see some of my nail line in the first photo, which was taken with a flash, but it was not noticiable in real life. This wore really well for several days before I started to notice any tip wear.

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer can be purchased on their website for $9.00.   Pomegranate Nail Lacquer is "3-free" which means it contains NO toluene, formaldehyde, or dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and the company also does not test on animals, which I know is a big issue for some.  They have really interesting color selections and their names are so fun. Be sure to check out their site. I have two more colors from them to feature so be on the lookout.

On a side note, it's official, I am a nail polish hoarder. We all knew this before but it's BAD now. I have officially filled two entire Helmers with nail polish. I now need a third.  My husband said if there's ever a fire we are screwed!

Zoya: Zuza

Hi everyone! I hope you're all well and thanks for helping me out with the blogs commenting issues. It looks like the commenting link cannot be seen with Google Chrome. I have no idea how to fix that. So if you use Chrome and wish to leave a comment you'll have to click directly on the post to do so. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I did! On Saturday night my sister took me to see The Fray as an early birthday present. We'd seen them live once before and loved it so we were excited. They were, just as last time, excellent. If you like their music and have a chance to see them live, DO IT! They are really interactive with the crowd, Issac even went into the seats and sang which was amazing.  Issac also read a fan letter on stage and asked a boy to the prom for the girl who wrote it. That was so cute and priceless.

My husband went with my sister and me since the show was at the casino, and he played poker all night. When the concert was over he was playing 3 card poker at one of the tables so my sister and I watched for a while. He'd lost some decent money already in the night and was frustrated. He said "when these chips are gone we'll leave". As he put his final $30 bet down on the table he was frustrated with his luck. The three cards were dealt and he turned them over to reveal Ace of Spades, King of Spades and Queen of Spades. Could it be? A royal flush!? The man next to him saw the cards and his eyes about popped out of his head. My husband was shocked and I don't think he believed it. He set the cards down for a minute, then picked them back up and placed his bet.  The dealer was like "do you realize you just won the jackpot? I never dealt a jackpot hand before!" We were so excited but hubby was still in shock.  He'd won! It was the 3 card poker progressive jackpot, just under $6,000.00. Sweet!!!  Oh man, what an act of congress! The pit boss came over, counted all the cards like a dozen times to make sure it was legit. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes to get paid (by check, not chips) and countless amounts of paperwork.... of course TAXES too. BOOO!!! When all was said and done he walked away with a $4000.00 check *yup they took about 2k in TAXES, buzzkill! It was still so cool that his night turned around like that! Yay for winning big!

Anyway... on to the polish!

Today I have a color from Zoya's summer collection called Zuza when i saw the promo images for this collection this was the color I was most excited about. Zoya describes this as "deep, saturated, oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish. A beachy, colorful, foil-like shade with the perfect balance between blue and green." I honestly think it looks prettier in the press images vs. real life but it's still a super pretty shade. I love the shimmer in this, it appears almost textured.

This was super opaque and pretty thick. I had no issues with application and needed just two coats for the opacity shown below.

I guess I thought this one was going to be jelly like from the promo images but it's not. On the contrary, it's super opaque. I still like it but I was hoping for a gorgeous jelly! You know?! Oh well!

So how do you feel about this one? Do you own it? How do you like it? Sound off below!!!!!

OPI: Fly (Nicki Minaj Collection)

Happy Monday everyone! Today was a beautiful day in Connecticut.  It was over 70 degrees today, which is awesome for March. I hope this weather stays around, it just makes me happy! I am also happy that we "sprang ahead" this weekend and now have an extra hour of day light. I get out of work at 5:30 pm daily so to get out of work and have it be light out is heavenly to me!

Sticking with the warm spring weather I have a fun color to share with you today!  This is OPI's Fly which is an insanely gorgeous teal blue color that debuted with the Nicki Minaj collection.  This color is so beautiful and it's got a fantastic shiny finish which I just love! I can see this being a really fun pedicure color for the summer!

I used two coats for full opacity and it went on great. I had no issues with streaking or balding at all.  Like I said the finish is shiny which is what I love in a creme. Some cremes can look dull and I am drawn to the shiny ones more so than ones with a dull finish. This is just the perfect creme finish.

So how do you like this one? Will it make its way into your collection?

Are you excited to have an extra hour of day light, or do you live in an area that does not practice Day Light Savings time? I am always interested in that!
