Nicole by OPI: Half-Charming, Half-Alarming

The entire Nicole by OPI Tinkerbell collection is gorgeous! I love all of the polishes! Today I have another one to show you, this is Half-Charming, Half-Alarming which is just the cutest name and perfect description for mischievous Tink!

This color is a deep coral creme. It's not that light peachy coral we see a lot, but I'd call it a coral nonetheless, or maybe a melon? Either way, it's beautiful and perfect for summer, like the rest of the Tinkerbell collection! It pulls a little red but it's so flattering on every skin tone!

I used two coats for the opacity shown and, like the other polishes in this collection, had no issues at all with application, just smooth, opaque goodness.

Do you love this one or what!? I do!

Snails (Safe Nails) Candy Floss and Twinkle Dust

Hello beauties. This is a post that all my mom readers will be really excited about. I was recently contacted by a company named Snails, which is short for safe nails.  When I looked into the company and the products they offered I was super excited to have the opportunity to try them out. This is a product designed for children, and even pregnant women, who are looking for a non-toxic, safe, paraben free, and water based nail polish that washes off with soap and water. Yes, that's right, washes off with soap and water. I could not believe that when I read it so I decided to take Snails up on their offer and try it myself. Here's a little about Snails from their website:

  • Revolutionary three-ingredient formula — containing just water, acrylic polymer and non-toxic colorants, SNAILS is safe in its simplicity.
  • Totally water soluble — SNAILS washes off easily with simple soap and water, making harsh solvent-based remover a thing of the past.
  • Environmentally friendly — from biodegradable packaging and lead-free bottles, to a strict no animal testing policy.
  • Hypoallergenic — SNAILS is purely chemical, Paraben and toxin free, so little nails are kept safe, sound and splendidly coloured.
  • Vivacious colour choices — every SNAILS polish delivers glorious high-quality gloss and deliciously gentle fragrance.

Read the rest of the review below to see if it lived up to the claims.

Snails sent me two colors to try. First up is Candy Floss and it's a shimmery baby pink that reminds me of icing! It's really sweet! The baby pink has a nice iridescent shimmer throughout which reflects purple and blue. Very cute.

I used two coats for the opacity below. There's a little bit of visible nail line, so if you're not a fan of that you may want to use three coats instead. This polish literally has no scent which is just awesome! It applies smoothly and the company says you do not need a bottom coat and I tend to agree.

So, could I wash this off with just soap and water? I was skeptical. I have tried water based polishes in the past that claimed to come off with a water based polish remover and they really didn't... this brand claimed all I needed was soap and water. Soap and water!! Well you know what? It worked. It worked insanely well. All I used was warm water and SoftSoap antibacterial soap, because it's what I had on hand. The best part? I didn't have to scrape or scrub, I just had to wash my hands and gently rub my nails, the polish came right off. Completely off! I was shocked! It just simply dissolved and I washed it all away. I am so impressed.

See!? I took this photo right after I finished washing (photo above). The polish is completely gone. I didn't have to do anything else. In fact, I applied the second color right after taking this photo!

The next color I tried is called Twinkle Dust which is a shimmer deep copper/burnt orange color. I used two coats for the opacity shown, and, again, no issues with application what so ever.

Now to me, this was the test. Was this deep shimmery color going to come off with just soap and water? The answer is yes, yes it did. It came right off as easily as the Candy Floss. Color me impressed!

How cool is this stuff? I am super impressed and think this is an excellent polish to give to little girls who are into nail polish. You won't have to worry about them breathing in the fumes, or using harsh nail polish remover on their little fingers and toes. This can come off right in the shower. I can see this being a great dress-up time nail polish.  There's a real need for a product like this and I really digging this concept.

I do not think this is all that practical for adults. It does come off so easily that I wouldn't be comfortable rocking it for my manicures. I simply wash my hands too much and it'd be gone too soon. There is a niche market, namely Muslim women, discussed more thoroughly on Snails website. I think that's really cool they thought of that!

I'm really glad Snails reached out to me. I would have never known about this product and now I have a recommendation in my back pocket when my mommy friends ask me about kid-safe products.

Let me know what you think about this concept and these colors. Be sure to check out www.safe-nails.com to learn more about their products.

Adore: He's the Lucky One and To Have and to Hold

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope you all have a wonderful week.  Today I want to show you two polishes from a brand named Adore Nail Polish. I received this for consideration and they are part of Adore's Wedding Collection. Adore is vegan and therefore never tests on animals. I know that's quite important to many of you. Their polishes retail for just $8 and are really awesome quality.

First up I have He's the Lucky One and I have been rocking this on my toes for a few weeks now. This is a bright red/orange creme/jelly polish. It's not quite a jelly but is such a super high shine creme it certainly borders on a jelly. It's absolutely stunning and perfect for summer. I just love a good classic red. The orange twist it has makes it a little more wearable for my skin tone.

I only used two coats for the opacity shown. The nail line is very slightly visible but it's basically fully opaque and you'd be really picky to be bothered by that VNL. This went on so easily and I had no issues with streaking or balding. I am in love with the high shine finish on this one. A+ in my book.

Next up from Adore I have To Have and To Hold which is a standard white creme. The website describes it as a matte but I do not think it's a matte finish, it's more creme. There's no shimmer or sparkle but it doesn't dry matte it has a bit of shine to it.  This would make a nice white for a french manicure.

Below is just two coats and it is fully opaque. It went on as easily as a white could, as you know, the pigment in white can be tricky. Overall this is a solid white in my book.

I am a fan of both of these. Love the red though. I think the price point on these vegan friendly polishes is quite fair at $8 and I see myself buying several in the future.

Have you had any experience with Adore Nail Polish. I'd love to hear about your favorite colors from the brand. What do you think of these two?

Random Thoughts:
  • Just getting over a cold. Miserable!
  • It's insanely hot here, unbearable humidity. Hope it cools down soon. I hate winter and I don't want it back but this humidity has got to go.
  • Sorry for the lack of posting, been busy at work. Loving my position and learning so much every day!

Ruby Wing: Electric Firefly

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Today I want to show you a polish I received from Ruby Wing for consideration. This is Electric Firefly and it's a really fun color changing polish. It's not like the gradient color change polishes that work off of your body temperature (which I LOVE, like an instant French mani) but rather, it works off of the sun. Yup, this is a solar activated color changing polish.

Electric Firefly starts out highlighter yellow, indoors, and turns a warm orange in the sunlight. I took a series of photos to show you the transition:

Cool right?

Now, this color is not my usual cup of tea but it was fun to watch it change. I think kids would love this concept.

I used two coats for the opacity show and may have been better off with three, but two is pretty much fully opaque.  I didn't have any issues with application.

Overall, this is a fun concept. I think I like the ones that change off of your temperature better, those are so cool, but this is still fun to play with. Like I mentioned above, I think kids would love this concept.

Have tried any Ruby Wing color changing polishes? What did you think of them? Will you seek these out?

Zoya: Thandie

Hello beauties! I hope you're all doing well and I hope you all had a nice weekend. I did! Steve and I had our 3 year old nephew/godson sleepover on both Friday and Saturday. On Saturday we took him to a local zoo and then to a local aquarium.  If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen the shenanigans! I had a great time but boy are kids high energy LOL.

Today I have a color from Zoya to share with you all. This is Thandie  (Share the Love Link) and I received it for consideration this spring from Zoya. Zoya describes it as a citrus orange creme but if you look closely you can see some really subtle microshimmer in this one. This microshimmer is virtually the same color as the base and just adds some interest to this orange.

This is a really great color for summer. Looks great on tan skin *I need a tan!*  I am often drawn to orange colors for some reason. This is a really nice one. I used two coats for full opacity, and like most Zoya polishes, this one had a nice formula. I had no issues with bleeding, balding, streaking etc. It applied evenly and easily.

What do you think of this pretty summer citrus? What are some of your favorite orange hues?

Random thoughts:

  • Sick of the rain. Seriously, we have like two seasons in CT. Freezing cold and rainy/muggy. Over it!
  • Enjoying the audio-book Under the Dome by Stephen King. It's 30 CDs long! I listen in the car. I am on CD 21. Can't wait for the series on CBS this month!
  • When do Dexter and Homeland come back? I am itching for their return!
  • I wish I was in Disney World!

Jesse's Girl Cosmetics: Julie G Collection in Chic Cipro

Hi everyone! It's Monday again! I swear even the pets dread Mondays. I hope you all had a nice weekend. Today I have a color to share from the Julie G Collection by Jesse's Girl Cosmetics. If you don't know who JulieG is, she's a makeup guru on YouTube with tons of fans. Jesse's Girl has teamed up with her to create a line of polishes with her name. Very cool! I watch her videos all the time and she seems like a genuinely nice girl. I am so happy to see all of the success she has achieved with her videos. Can you believe some of these makeup gurus on youtube do this for a living? I wish I could make that my job! But I digress...

This is Chic Cipro which is an odd name. I looked up "cipro" but could not find any meaning beyond prescription medication, LOL, anyone know what it means? *EDIT: SEE BELOW FOR WHAT IT MEANS!  It's a peachy nude cream color that's sort of ugly chic if you ask me. I love these kind of colors. Sometimes peachy colors do not work with my skin tone but this one is really pretty.

I used two coats for the opacity shown but may have been better off with a third looking at the photos now. However, I think that was just my application. I need to be more careful sometimes. The formula was nice and super shiny, which you know I love.

Have you tried any of the Julie G polishes? I have only seen Jesse's Girl, and this collection, at select Rite Aid stores near me, not all of them. So this is a little tough to come by. Jesse's Girl does make great cosmetics though so check them out if you do have access. They are affordable and great quality, in my opinion.

EDIT: I heard from the PR representative who from Jesse's Girl who explained what Cipro meant. I think this information is really cool and really speaks to the creativity behind the line. I am so glad I wrote that I was wondering. Very cool!
"[...]saw that you were wondering what “Cipro” meant, and it’s actually the subway stop in Italy that Julie would go to everyday when she was studying abroad in Italy. What’s so cool about the JulieG Collection is that Julie not only helps design the colors, but then gives them names that go along with the shade, but also ones that relate to special memories or experiences from her life!"

Truimph: Turquoise Jewel and Lollipop

Hi everyone! Today I have two polishes to show you from a brand new line of lacquers by Everything Bridal and More. They have just created and are in the process of launching a new line of polishes called Triumph. They sent me two to try out.

First up is Turquoise Jewel (Matte) which is a true turquoise color with tons of pearly micro-shimmer throughout.  It does have a true matte finish but my photos are showing it a bit glosy because I added a top coat. I am not too into mattes, for some reason the feeling of that dry polish surface freaks me out LOL. So I added the top coat and think it makes this one gorgeous. But if you do like matte polishes I assure you this does dry to a true matte finish with no glossiness whatsoever.

I used two coats which gave me full opacity. The formula was typical of a matte polish in that it dried super fast. I had no issues with balding or streaking on this at all.

Sorry for the typo in the first photo. I am too lazy to edit it LOL. My bad!

Next up is Lollipop which is an orange jelly color. It's a well balanced orange in that it's not too red and not too yellow. It's a true jelly finish and requires more than two coats if you want it to be opaque. I love a good jelly, VNL and all, and this one is quite nice. It's got that squishy glass like finish too it. I love the shine on a proper jelly and this one delivers.

Like with any jelly polish you will see your nail line if your nails are semi long. This one isn't to noticeable  maybe on the middle finger, but I only did two coats for the photos.

This last photo is a bit blurry. Sorry!

Overall these are two solid polishes. I have no idea how much they will retail for but I do know they are being put out by Everything Bridal and More. They're good quality and I would like to see the price point/color selection etc.  I will keep my eyes peeled for that information and pass it on when I get it.
