Essie "Red Nouveau" (Art of Spring Collection)

Hello again my lovely readers. Today I have a quick post for you - a lovely classic red!! I will work on a red comparison for you but today I am just going to feature Essie's Red Nouveau from the Art of Spring Collection.

As you know, I love classic red cremes. I think they are timeless and I personally don't find them as boring as others do. I also think they're A-Ok for most office settings which is always a plus in my book. This is a great throwback red. It's bright and pigmented and just gorgeous to look at.

The formula is great on this one. Goes on smooth, not thick and dries shiny! This is one of the best formulated colors from the collection.

Essie polishes retail for $8 and can be purchased at Essie's website, Ulta stores, and at select salons and e-tailers. So what's your favorite red? Thanks for reading, have a wonderful day!

Essie "Pop Art Pink"

Good afternoon everyone! Today I have a swatch of Essie's "Pop Art Pink" which came out with the Art of Spring Collection earlier this year. Essie describes this color as "a sheer chiffon pink" which sounds accurate to me. It's a light milky semi sheer pink. I say semi sheer because as you can see in the photos I was able to achieve opacity with 3 coats. Note though if your nails are any longer than this you will probably have more trouble achieving opacity and will have to deal with the dreaded visible nail line (I had this on longer nails before and 3 coats still had some VNL).

I think this would make nice pedi color for those times when you want something sort of neutral on your tootsies.

The formula was okay, better to work with than some of the others in the collection. It wasn't too think so it didn't make too much of a mess.

I probably won't wear this one too often. Maybe once I find employment I will rock this in the office but daily it's not really for me. I prefer a more opaque baby pink like China Glaze's "Something Sweet". I just cannot deal with any VNL.

Essie "Lilacism" and "Carnival"

Essie "Lilacism" is a gorgeous lilac creme color which came out with the Art of Spring Collection. You know me and my cremes and a purple creme = perfection. This color is absolutely stunning!!

As far as the formula on this one is concerned I am a little less enthusiastic. Since this color is essentially a pastel it's thick and pigmented and not too fun to work with. I found it to be pretty goopy and just overall a bit messy. I was able to achieve opacity in just two coats but it was difficult to be neat with this one. I have had trouble with other pastels so I kind of expected to really have to work with this one. Not a huge big deal but not fun either.

Don't worry, these should be the last pics I have waiting to post with that dreaded broken nail!

So then I went shopping with my sister in laws and this girl working at this salon supply store saw me eying Essie's "Carnival" and she said "ohhhh I have that on right now over Lilacism" and showed me her nails... SOLD! It looked so good! So I grabbed it with the intention to bite her style.

I wish "Carnival" photographed properly. It's essentially a rainbow holo glitter in a clear base. When it photographs it looks like silver glitter but I assure you it's rainbow for sure. It looks amazing in the right lighting. My husband and I went out to eat and my nails just sparkled in the dim lighting of the restaurant. Also, I got so many compliments on my nails when I wore this and it was just such an easy combo.

Pretty huh?! I like it. So what do you think of these two together?

Essie "Neo Whimsical"

Essie's "Neo Whimsical" is part of the Art of Spring Collection and it's a really pretty lilac/pink creme. It's not quite pink and it's not quite purple; Essie calls it a "rose plum" and I suppose that's right. When I think of "plum" I think deep dark and rich but I guess "rose plum" would be more muted like this.

I think this color is great for spring. It's muted and conservative but it's somewhat edgy at the same time. It has that cool dusty quality to it that makes it a bit more of a statement color than a plain pink would be. I think it's perfect for everyday wear and non-offensive in a conservative environment. So you can wear this to the office and feel comfortable but not boring. I like that.

I found this one easy to work with, I liked the formula a lot it was a great consistency. I had no streaking, no balding - no real issues with application at all. This is just two coats which shocked me because I was expecting to have some VNL but two coats was the perfect opacity for me. Winner!!!!

I took quite a few photos but I wanted to share them all so you can see how it's purple but pink at the same time.

So, do you like it? I do! I think this is a fantastic color from the collection. I didn't think this one was going to be for me and I was pleasantly surprised by it's beauty. This is sure to make an appearance in my life on a regular basis.

Thanks for reading! Don't forget to enter my giveaway, it's easy!!!

Essie: "Tart Deco"

Today it is 82 92 degrees in Connecticut and it's feeling more like summer than spring so I thought I'd show you a color I think is more summery than springy; Essie's "Tart Deco". "Tart Deco" debuted with the Art of Spring Collection and it's a bright cheery coral creme. I am uber pale right now (NW20) but this would look so much better with a nice tan, whenever I get my tan on I will revisit this color for you.

The formula on this is thick and pigmented. It's semi difficult to work with. I had some streaking issues so I used 3 coats to even out. This dries pretty matte like a neon would so be ready with your favorite topcoat.

I took photos indoors and out so you can see the color. I wish the color was closer to what you see in the bottle. It's brighter than the bottle suggests, which is fine but I like the bottle color. I love colors like this but orange tones look ICKY YUCK on me. Oh well. Once I am tan I think I can rock this.

And I will leave you with some cuteness, he's enjoying this weather too, he gets to lounge on the windowsill. :-)
