Zoya: Noel (Gems & Jewels Collection)

It's Friday!!! Yay! Today I have a polish from Zoya to share with you.  This is from the Gems and Jewels Holiday Collection and it's called Noel: Zoya describes Noel as: "A faded denim blue with subtle hints of gold and silver in a dense foil finish. A dreamy, sparkling shade that's like blue jeans for your nails." It's sort of a silly description if you ask me ;-) But it's accurate, it's a blue foil with silver sparkle. It's nice to see a color like this for winter because blues do remind me of the season.

Application was surprisingly nice.   Foils tend to streak a lot! This one streaked a little bit but ultimately I think the finish is nice compared to other foils on the market. I'm happy with it. The sparkle on this is brilliant.  I used just two coats for full opacity and I had no balding at all and no visible nail line.

I received several unsolicited compliments when I wore this one, which is always nice! It always puts a smile on my face when someone notices my nails!

 With Flash:

So what do you think of this one for the season? Can you see yourself rocking this shade?

OPI: Warm & Fozzie and Designer... De Better! (Muppets Collection)

Hi there lovely readers! I hope you had a nice weekend and that your week is going well! Today I have two colors from the OPI Muppets Collection to share with you.  I adore the Muppets! I couldn't resist posting a pic of Mr. Fozzie Bear himself since one of the colors I am sharing is named after him.  As you all know by now, I am a HUGE Disney World fan. One of my favorite areas in MGM Studios (yes, I know it's Hollywood Studios now, but I will not ever really get on board with that) is the Muppet area.  If you have never been there you need to go, stat! It's so fun and festive. Everything is tricked out with Muppet Mania and the Muppet Vision 3D show is so old now that I think I can officially call it a Disney classic and I love it! Okay, okay, enough rambling, on to the polish.

Warm and Fozzie is one of the prettiest colors in this collection in my opinion.  It's an interesting finish that is not quite a frost, not quite a shimmer and not quite metallic. I am truly at a loss for how to describe the finish but it sure is beautiful.

It's a warm brown colos with copper, bronze, gold and even some silver "particles" throughout. (OPI calls it a metallic copper) It creates the most amazing fallen leaves look on your nails. Being from New England I am used to the incredible fall foliage and this color reminds me of a big ol' pile of raked leaves. It's got all of the warm tones you'd expect to see in that pile.  It's the perfect fall color in my opinion.  It creates so much interest on the nails.

The formula was good. I used two coats for the opacity shown in the photos and while I think you can get away with two coats next time I think I will go for the third because in the sunlight I did feel it was a bit more sheer than it appeared indoors.  (Though you can't tell from the photos).

Next up is Designer...De Better! which to be honest is the weirdest name and I don't quite get it. I mean sure, I can see Miss Piggy saying it for whatever reason but it makes no real sense to me. Oh well!

This color is really interesting because it's like two colors in one. When I first saw it in the bottle I thought it was a champagne shimmer. You know the color I mean, that light gold yellow champagne color with tons of sparkle. On the nails though this color shocked me.  It's like champagne and silver in one! In some lights it appears totally silver but in most lighting it's like a light silver with bronze particles throughout. It's incredibly interesting and I have nothing in my collection quite like it. OPI calls it a metallic bronze.

I used two coats of this one and got full opacity. I'd say there is no need for a third with this one. Everything was smooth, no balding or streaking.

I took photos with different lighting to hopefully show you what I mean but how different it can look. Hope it translates properly!

Aren't these two stunners? I am really happy with them and think they work really well for this time of the year. Thoughts?

China Glaze: Tis' the Season to be Naughty & Nice: Part One

Happy Monday everyone! I changed my font on my photos to a cuter (IMO) style. The font is called "Yelly" if you're interested.

Today I want to show you a few of the colors from China Glaze's holiday collection. I received all of them except for three, I do not have Midnight Kiss, Phat Santa or Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Idk why they were not in my package but it's no biggie. You can purchase this collection on Trans Design. Let's start this series with four of the colors from the collection:

Cheers to You is described as "a bright shimmery silver" and it is a fantastic vibrant silver foil. The metallic affect on this one is just beautiful to look at. It's super sparkly but not glittery if that makes sense. It's really a perfect metallic foil. It's a really fun festive color for the holidays like tinsel!

Sometimes foils like this are streaky but this one was not streaky at all. Application was great and I just needed two coats for opacity.

Next is Jingle Bells which is a champagne style gold color with gold microshimmer. It's got a great sort of foil-ish finish and really sparkles. Again, I think it's great for the holidays, especially New Years Eve.

The formula on this was great. Again, no streaks and full opacity was achieved with just two coats.

Snow is a high shine, almost patent leather finish bright white. I don't normally go for a stark white nail but this color is the one I would reach for if I did because of the super shiny finish. I think this would make an excellent color for a French manicure if you're into the American style French with super white tips.

Application was shockingly easy for such a pigmented white. Whites can be troublesome but this one was fine. I used three coats but it was essentially opaque in two.

Last in this installment of swatches we have Frosty and it sure is frosty. It's a shimmery off white with sort of off white/silver micro shimmer to it. This is my least favorite from the entire collection as I don't think it suits my skin color at all.

It's pretty sheer so I used three coats for the opacity pictured. The formula was okay but like I said it's on the sheer/thin side so you need to be patient. I probably will not reach for this one much.
