Dermelect: Fearless

Good morning, afternoon, or evening. I hope you're all having a fantastic week! Today I want to show you a polish I received for consideration from Dermelect. This is Fearless and it's a mid toned blue creme color.

I have talked about Dermelect lacquers before but in case you don't remember here's some information about them: Dermelect polishes are peptide infused, cruelty free,   big 3 free, and designed to strengthen your nails and protect them from UV.  They're supposed to have a long wearing quality, but for me, wear is average, nothing to write home about.

This blue is really pretty and flattering. I love the high shine finish. The formula on this, like other Dermelect polishes I have tried, is great. It's highly pigmented and required only two coats for full opacity. I had no issues with streaking or balding of any kind.

Dermelect nail polish retails for $14 a bottle and can be purchased on their website. Have you tried Dermelect polishes? What are your favorite colors?

Thanks for checking in today! Have a wonderful day!

Dermelect: Buzz-Worthy

Hi all! Thanks for checking in today! I hope you're doing well! Today I'm going to  share a bright color that was sent to me for consideration by the brand Dermelect.  This is Buzz-Worthy which is a SUPER bright, highlighter yellow.

I will be honest and tell you that the color doesn't do much for me. I just don't typically wear yellows at all. This is a bright highlighter neon yellow. Even though it is neon it doesn't have too much white in the base so it doesn't go on matte like some neon colors do. I do appreciate that! I am just not someone who gravitates towards these colors.
Dermelect makes a quality lacquer though, so if I look at this without regard to the color (which there's nothing wrong with, it's just not my cup of tea), it's a great polish. I only needed two coats for opacity, which is excellent for a color of this nature. Some yellows are a nightmare, something to do with the yellow pigments, but this is a piece of cake to apply. I had no streaking, no balding and no problems whatsoever.

Dermelect makes some great polishes, this color just isn't for me. Dermelect polishes are peptide infused, DBP, Toluene & Formaldehyde free, and cruelty free. They strengthen your nails and are long lasting!  They retail for $14 each.

What are your favorite Dermelect colors? Do you like these types of yellows?

Dermelect ME: Luxurious

Hi everyone! Happy Monday (ugh!!). I hope you all had a great weekend! I did! My husband and I had a sleepover with our 2 year old nephew/godson while his parents went to a wedding. We had so much fun! How cute is this guy?:

Today I want to show you a polish from the brand Dermelect. You may remember my Dermelect Launchpad review from way back in 2010. That is an excellent product that I would recommend to anyone.  Now Dermelect makes colored nail polish. I was very excited when I saw the press releases for these!

Dermelect nail polish is peptide infused and as an ingredient called ProSina Keratin Protein which derives from New Zealand wool which is supposed to do all sorts of wonderful things for your nails. Check out their website for more information on the product and its ingredients.

I got to try out Luxurious which is a lilac purple creme. You all know my love for purple cremes and this is no exception, these colors just speak to me.  The polish itself, at least my bottle, is quite thick so I had to apply with care.  I did get some bubbles but they smoothed out with the second coat and the top coat.  I used two coats for the full opacity shown.

This had pretty good staying power though I did not wear it long enough to really put it to the test. It did make it through a weekend though and I had no real tip wear and I had one or two chips from me being a little rough with my hands.

These Dermelect ME polishes retail for $14 so it is a higher end polish. If it does what it says it does it's worth the money. I tend to think the claims Dermelect makes are legit because Launchpad really is a fantastic product which I found did do everything it promised for my nails.

What do you think of this one? Do you have any Dermelect ME polishes?

Dermelect Launchpad Review. Caution: Naked Nails.

Hi there! A few months ago I was given the opportunity to test out a nail treatment by Dermelect Cosmeceuticals called Launchpad. I wanted to review this product after a prolonged usage time so that I could be as honest about how it works as possible. I have been using this product since the end of June and you will see how much of it has been used. I believe I have a good understanding of it's properties at this time. Here's what the product looked like before use:

So here's a little info on the product. You can visit their website (listed below) for a more detailed description:

LAUNCHPAD NAIL STRENGTHENER

  • Hydrates and strengthens nails using the protein peptide, ProSina.
  • Resists chipping and splitting, while providing a great basecoat for your favorite nail polish.
  • Increases the integrity and cohesion to the nail plate resulting in natural flexibility and increased moisture.
  • ProSina’s anti-oxidant behavior allows it to actively remove harmful free radicals most commonly associated with nail damage.
  • $18.00 on www.dermelect.com
I am not one to go without polish, ever. Whenever I let my nails "breathe" with nothing on them they have a tenancy to break. So it's safe to say that since June this has been on my nails each day.

The product is designed as an "anti aging" product. At age 26 I can't honestly say my nails have showed signs of aging so I cannot speak to that. I can speak to its other qualities though.

I have generally strong nails. They're so strong in fact that when I have a break my nail essentially just snaps off. Do you know what I mean? So I like the idea of a hydrating treatment and I do think this one did hydrate my nails as I have had less incidents of breakage since using. The breakage that has occurred during the duration of my usage can be attributed to filing the side walls of my nail for shape, sometimes I overdo it, causing the nail to eventually break. So I will say that I do see an increased flexibility that I do attribute to the use of the product that is a very welcome effect.

I have used this product as my base coat since receiving it. As far as performance as a base coat this product works well. I find that just like any other good base coat polish adheres nicely and stays without chipping, peeling or bubbling. As you can see in the photos below I have experienced no staining which is fantastic. There's nothing worse than taking off a red or black polish only to see your nails tinted. Ew. So as far as its use as a base coat it's good.

Have a look at the condition of my nails and decide for yourself if this product has kept them nice:

So those are my nails with one coat of Launchpad. What do you think?

This product is $18 for .4 fl which is slightly smaller than the average polish. It's quite pricey but if it works it's worth it. A good treatment for your nails is worth the investment. When your nails are in good shape underneath you can use any polish on top and it will look great!

Dermelect also has a ridgefiller and a nail thickener so they have products that meet most of our needs. They also come together in a set with a cuticle treatment.

Overall, I think the product is nice. I does hydrate my nails. I love to try new things so when this is gone I might not purchase a new one right away but I am considering trying out the ridge filler. I think if you're looking for a good nail treatment this is a nice option for you. It's not just a watery base coat. I will continue using this until I run out, I am almost out!

Have you tried Launchpad? What do you think of it?

Haven't tried it? What's your favorite nail treatment? Let me know in the comments - I love to try new things.

French Manicure - Gina Style

Hiya!!! I was in a boring mood so I did a simple french mani using Orly's White Tips for my tip color. I didn't use a color on my natural nail I just did two coats of the Dermelect Launchpad, did two coats of the White Tips on the tips and topped it all off with Seche Vite topcoat. I think they came out pretty good for having free handed the tips so I thought I'd share.

I have been less successful with the Ruffian style manicure. Tried it twice and FAILED. Any tips?

Let me know how you think my French came out. Thanks for reading - have a wonderful weekend.

China Glaze Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen: "Midnight Mission" & Testing a New Base Coat

Hi Everyone!!! Today I have another gorgeous color to share from the China Glaze Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen Collection. Enjoy!!

This is Midnight Mission is a "navy blue frost with silver microglitter". It is packed with the silver microglitter and the final color is really something beautiful to look at. I love it.

The formula is wonderful. Again, I am always weary of frosts but this one went on smoothly without leaving those horrid brush marks that frosts are pretty famous for. I am really impressed.

I am also trying out a new Base Coat that was provided to me by a PR company. It's "green" and "anti-aging" so we'll see how it goes. I plan to use it under all manis for the next month or so before reporting back. I feel I need to take my time with a product like this to insure an accurate review.

Here's what it is supposed to do:

LAUNCHPAD NAIL STRENGTHENER

  • Hydrates and strengthens nails using the protein peptide, ProSina.
  • Resists chipping and splitting, while providing a great basecoat for your favorite nail polish.
  • Increases the integrity and cohesion to the nail plate resulting in natural flexibility and increased moisture.
  • ProSina’s anti-oxidant behavior allows it to actively remove harmful free radicals most commonly associated with nail damage.
  • $18.00 on www.dermelect.com

In the meantime if you so desire you can follow @dermelect on Twitter/Facebook for the chance to win a Nail Recovery System (value $70). Why not right?

So what do you think of Midnight Mission? Interested?
