On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Happy Saturday! I am on a roll today folks! Take a look at this stunner from the OPI Skyfall Collection  This is On Her Majesty's Secret Service which is an odd name but a breath taking color. This reminds me of Zoya's Fei Fei but it's more grey so a bit darker. I believe OPI describes this as a pewter (don't quote me). To me it's a gorgeous smoky, steel blue/grey with tons of shimmers. I guess it's a foil but I stink at deciding what finish a polish is. Bad nail polish blogger! Bad!

This one was perfect in two coats which is an achievement for a polish with this finish. Usually there are some balding issues but this one was richly pigmented and went on perfectly. I am in love with this color.

What do you think? This is a winner in my book. I just love it. It's a plus that the formula rocks too.

I saw a lot of my Facebook friends doing 30 days of Thanks so I decided I would too. Here are my first three days of thanks:

Day 1) I am thankful that my friends and family are all safe after hurricane Sandy, especially those in NJ and NY. While some of them may be having a tough time right now they are all alive and getting trough it.

Day 2) I am thankful for my wonderful, supportive, handsome, funny, kind, generous husband. Without him I would not be who I am today. He encourages me to go after my dreams and without him I am not sure I'd have the courage. I don't know if I tell him enough how much I truly appreciate him but I do! ♥

Day 3) I am thankful for my parents. Without them I obviously wouldn't be here but beyond the whole being born thing they have done so much more for me than any parent is obliged to do for their child. Thanks mom and dad!

What are you thankful for?

Nicole by OPI: For Gold Times Sake (Target Exclusive)

Hi all! How is your week going? Anything fun going on with you?

Today I have an absolutely gorgeous color from Nicole by OPI to share.  This one is called For Gold Times Sake and it's a Target Exclusive.  This is an absolutely stunning tarnished gold/green with tons of pink, blue and gold shimmer throughout. It's a color changing wonder and is so interesting. This is a perfect fall color. It reminds me of the fallen leaves.

Application wise this one is slightly sheer and required three coats for full opacity.

Isn't this color absolutely beautiful? I love it for fall.

Color Club: Editorial (In True Fashion Collection Fall 2012)

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Today I want to show you a color from Color Club's Fall 2012 In True Fashion Collection.  This is described as a peridot duochrome. It's quite interesting. It's green, it's gold, it's blue, it's brown, it's CRAZY LOL.

It's a really cool duochrome but the finish is sort of frosty which I really don't like. I don't like frosts because they streak. This streaked a little bit on me. I used two coats for opacity.

What do you think about this one? Also, I had my hubby build me a light box. I am still getting the hang of it so please bear with me while I try to get the best lighting for it.

Color Club: Wing Fling (Take Wing Collection Summer 2012)

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had stellar weeks. Today I want to show you a color from Color Club's Take Wing collection (Summer 2012). All of the colors in this collection were really shimmery duo-chrome/ glass fleck type colors.  I have to admit, I'm not really a big fan of this finish. I know a lot of people love it but for me they always look better in the bottle than they do on.

Wing Fling is a bright magenta with a mostly pink/purple shimmer duochrome. The base is sheer and almost jelly like and it's packed with shimmery particles.  I am not a huge fan of this color on me, I just cannot pull off these magenta colors, especially when they are so shimmery.

The polish went on smoothly and was a bit sheer. I needed three coats for full opacity. The glass flecks were smooth and not gritty or bumpy. The polish has a smooth finish and shines like the dickens!

Overall this color and finish on me is just "meh" but I am sure someone out there will love it! What do you think of it?

Who has fun plans for the weekend? I want the details! :-)

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: OPI Minnie Mouse Collection

Happy Wednesday everyone! One day closer to the weekend.  On Wednesdays we wear pink and since I have skipped a few I thought I'd show you a few today, though one is red. These colors are from OPI's Minnie Mouse collection. If you know anything about me you know I am a Disney fanatic. When I am not in Disney World I am not happy! It's my favorite place in the entire world, much to my husband's dismay. He likes it there but wants to go somewhere else once in a while LOL. So when I saw OPI was putting out a Minnie Mouse collection I squealed with joy! These are three of the four colors. The 4th is a sheer pink glitter with hearts, very fun!

I look awful in this pic but I needed a Minnie photo for the post LOL. Don't mind my crazy hair (it was FL in July man!) but there's our girl:

PLEASE NOTE: I mixed up I'm All Ears and If You Moust You Moust. I apologize for that! It's going to be a PAIN to re-edit photos so just please note my mistake. Thank you all for letting me know!

The first color I have here is my favorite of the bunch, I'm All Ears  If You Moust You Moust this is a gorgeous pink. It's hard to describe, it's not hot pink but it's not baby pink it's in-between. I don't pull pink off well but this is the color pink I love when I do wear pink. Something about it is just so flattering. I think it's pretty blue based, but I am no expert. ;-)

This is really If You Moust You Moust:

Next up is If You Moust You Moust I'm All Ears which is a name I do not understand.  I have seen this compared to Butter London's Disco Biscuit but I don't have it to do my own comparison. As you can see from the first photo it is pretty sheer, but I think that was mostly the work of the flash as the second picture doesn't show the nail line as much. This is not my favorite color pink in all the land but it's alright.

This is really  I'M ALL EARS:

Last I have a red one to share with you. This is called The Color of Minnie and I think that it really does fit Minnie Mouse! This is a super pretty red with a pink duo chrome frost look to it. It's a pretty fun take on red.

All of these were two coats. The only one that might benefit from a third is If You Moust You Moust. My favorite is I'm All Ears it's a perfect pink! Which one is your favorite?

Do you love Disney as much as I do!? Share your favorite Disney memory with me below!

Color Club: Nouveau Vintage (Back to Boho Collection)

Hi there! I hope you're all doing well. Fall is in there air in my part of the USA. I love the crisp cool air this time of year brings. I cannot wait to pick apples and sip cider. Summer flew by though! Woah!

Anyway, today I have a color from Color Club's Back to Boho fall collection. This is Nouveau Vintage which reminds me of Club eyeshadow from MAC (used in an eye look here). It's brown and  green and red all at once. It was impossible to capture this shade on camera but I tried my best.  This is a really nice color for fall because it's deep and complex.

The formula was nice and I had no issues with application. I used three coats for the pictured opacity.  I do think it chipped rather quickly, as I wore it for three days and by day three it was chipped a lot, especially on the tips.   I do think the color is worth dealing with that though because it is rather pretty!

I wish the photos captured its complexity! Oh well, I tried!! Do you like this one as much as I do?

SPARITUAL: Health, Wealth, Happiness

Good morning everyone! I hope you're all having a great week, it's 1/2 over so hang in there if not.

Today I wanted to share a polish from SpaRitual, this color is called Health, Wealth, Happiness which is part of their Imagine collection.  Health, Wealth, Happiness is a gorgeous blue/purple duo chrome. Photos simply do not do it justice. In some lights it is a rich shade between royal and navy blue and it other lights is a deep royal purple. The duo chrome is just gorgeous and done right.

Application was slightly above average but it did take 3 coats for maximum opacity. I didn't have any issues with brush strokes which always makes me so happy when working with a shimmer/frost type color. I have said it before but I will say it again, nail polish brands are really stepping it up when it comes to this finish, they've come a long way; which is why it is so disappointing when we do come across a frost with massive brush strokes.

Honestly this color is one you really need to see in person. It's stunning, it really is. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we just cannot capture a color's true beauty in a photograph.  This is one of those times.

SpaRitual can be difficult to come across, it is typically found at spas, hence the name I guess. But if you can find some of their polishes I think you should pick one or two up because their good quality.

So what do you think?

OPI: The Show Must Go On (Burlesque Collection)

Hi everyone! Hope you had a good weekend. My poor husband had a stomach bug which landed him in the ER all day on Saturday but he's doing much better now. Poor guy always gets sick when he has a few days off, he can't catch a break.

Today I have another color from OPI's Burlesuque Collection, this one is called The Show Must Go On. It's a gorgeous pinkish red with orange duo chrome. It reads more red on me but I have seen some swatches where it appears more pink. Weird right? In any case this is a beauty. The duo chrome finish is so pretty and interesting. It just plain sparkles in the right lighting. I love it.  You can really see the shimmer in the indoor photos I took on the bottom of the page.

I had no problems with the formula. I needed three coats for opacity, which I think is typical with most duo chromes. I didn't have any issues with brush strokes which is great considering the finish. It went on smooth and easily.

So what do you think of this one? Hit or miss? I think it's just gorgeous. I can't get over the shimmer in this collection, I think companies have some a long way perfecting this formula.

Orly: Space Cadet. (Some Feedback Please)

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you're all ready for the weekend. My husband and I are going to a friend of mine's engagement party tomorrow. Should be fun.

So I am late to the party here with this color but I thought I would share my review of it anyway. This is Orly's Space Cadet and it's probably one of summer's most popular colors. Well, end of summer I guess.  It's part of the Cosmic FX line.  I picked it up at CVS a few weeks ago when I saw it for $6.99 which is a steal since this line was selling elsewhere for over $10. I am not as enamored with this color as many other people are but I do see the appeal. It's quite interesting, don't get me wrong, I am just more of a creme girl I guess.

This color is not only impossible to describe but it was impossible to photograph as well. It's a multichrome, I guess that's what I'd call it. It's purple, it's green, it's gold it's EVERYTHING. I wish my photos did it justice but I can tell you right now that the bottle shot of the label is probably my best shot.

The formula is really sheer. I used three coats to achieve this level of opacity.  I know some people took to layering over black bases but I cannot be bothered.  I guess I'd say the polish is on the thin side but it wasn't at all hard to work with.

Overall, I do like this color but I don't get all the hype. It's not THAT cool.  I guess it was cool enough that I felt I needed to have it but I am not sure it's going to get much wear. What do you think of Space Cadet did you HAVE to have it or did you skip it.

Some Feedback Please:

I used larger images in this post, do you like them or should I return to my normal sized images. Please let me know.

I also installed IntenseDebate for commenting, as I like that platform on other blogs. Please let me know if you experience any issues with the new commenting system. Contact me at primandpolished@gmail.com I'd really appreciate it.
