Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure: Lagoon

Hi everyone! Every once in a while I brave the mess that is Ocean State Job Lot to see if they have any good nail polish and every once in a while the trip pays off. Last time I was there they had several colors from Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure line for just $2 which is a steal so I had to pick up a few.

One of the colors I picked up is Lagoon which is a medium blue frost. The color is sort of turquoise or teal and I think will appeal to a  lot of people. I am not really a fan of the frosty finish on this one. It's kind of streaky and old school looking. I am not sure I am a fan of that.

Application wise it was nice. I love the brush on this brand it's flat and tapered on the end like Rimmel brushes. It makes it easier to get down near the cuticle without making a mess. I wish more brands had brushes like this!

Overall I think I got a nice deal for $2. I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price for this one though because of the finish. Have you found any good nail polish deals lately? Do tell!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween readers! Are you doing anything fun for Halloween? I'm not sure what we're doing yet, I am going to attempt to dress up like a vampire or something. Who knows.

I wanted to show you my Halloween Manicure. I got the idea for the Frankenstein nail from the lovely Goldiestarling on Youtube. Check out her amazing tutorial for a way better version of these cool nails. I suck at nail art so these are sort of messy but festive none the less.

Have a wonderful Halloween all. Leave a link to your Halloween inspired nails in the comments.

Sally Hansen: Mystic Lilac (*Thank you Tamara!)

I was intending to do more China Glaze Holiday swatches but we had no sun this week so we'll have to wait until next week for that. Sorry!

A few weeks back Tamara of MochaMishMash held a Sally Hansen Mystic Lilac giveaway and I won! I was so excited because I could not find this color anywhere. So I thought I would share it with you today:

Mystic Lilac is a gorgeous grayed out lilac color with sort of irridessent or silver microshimmer. I am not sure, it's difficult to describe. It's a great sort of "edgy" neutral because it's not in your face; it's understated yet unique. I really like this color a lot.

As far as the formula is concerned it's not the best in the World but is is much much better than some of the other Xtreme Wear lacquers I have tried. I found it much easier to apply than usual but it does dry rather quickly in my opinion so it can gunk up the sides of the bottle a bit if you don't work quickly.

On to the photos. I apologize in advance, my hands were very dry that day.

So are you a fan? Have you seen this in your drug stores?

Sally Hansen: "Hidden Treasure"

Happy Wednesday readers! I apologize for the lack of posts this week. I have been dealing with some major stress in my life and I am feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. I hope I am making mountains out of molehills but right now I am feeling pretty helpless and hopeless.

On to happier things. I have been searching high and low for another bottle of Pure Ice's Free Spirit to send to the lovely Kellie and even though I went back to the Walt Mart I found mine at I had no luck finding another one. So the search continues... however at the first Wal Mart I found the oh-so-sought after Hidden Treasure by Sally Hansen. Though I originally passed on picking it up when I saw it this time I had to make it mine so in the cart it went and I am now the proud owner of this gorgeous flakie!! I am glad I bit the bullet on this because it's really lovely.

I layered it here with China Glaze's Grape Pop that beautiful deep violet from the Up & Away Collection. This color combo is a knockout. Try it, you won't stop looking at your nails. Hidden Treasure flashes mostly orange/gold but in the right lighting it has that great oil slick look to it - flashing peacock green, blue, orange and gold. It's very unique and it's going to be fun to layer on other colors.
Did you buy into the Hidden Treasure hysteria? What's your favorite color to layer it over?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I hope everyone gets some Irish luck today. Please drive safe and be responsible if you're the type who uses today as an excuse to drink. I don't drink and I forgot to thaw out my corned beef to make corned beef and cabbage so we'll be having that tomorrow.

I thought I'd do some festive nails but it's nothing really fancy at all. I painted an Irish Flag on one nail, which wasn't too tough. I think it looks pretty cute.

I used China Glaze "Tree Hugger" on all of my nails except for the one with the flag. "Tree Hugger" is a lime shimmery shade that I normally wouldn't wear but it's great for today!

For the flag I painted my entire nail with Orly "White Tips" and then free handed the two colors for the flag using Orly "Wandering Vine" and Sally Hansen "Sun Kissed". Here are the colors:

And here's the final result, what do you think?

So have a wonderful and safe St. Pat's and please remember if you're going to drink be responsible and have a designated driver it's never worth it to drive drunk, never.

Did you do fun festive nails? If so and you featured them on your blog leave a link in the comments, I'd love to see them!

As always thanks for reading!
