Zoya: Brigitte (Naturel Collection)

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a nice weekend. Hubby and I will be cheering on the 49ers tonight! Who do you want to see in the Super Bowl?

Today I want to show you Zoya's Brigitte, which is from the Naturel collection. It's described as a full coverage mauve creme. While the formulas was great on this one, the color just is not for me. I just think there's something about the way the color looks on my skin that isn't right. Otherwise, it's a good polish, like most of what Zoya has to offer. I used two coats for full opacity with this one, which is great since the color is pretty soft.  Not every color can work on everyone, and that is ok!

Don't mind the smudge on the pointer. I hit my nails on the camera! Oops!

Have you tried this one? Does the color work on your skin tone? I would love to hear your experience with this one!

So what do you think? I am really excited about them! Please let me know if you've done any cool holiday nails.

Snails (Safe Nails) Candy Floss and Twinkle Dust

Hello beauties. This is a post that all my mom readers will be really excited about. I was recently contacted by a company named Snails, which is short for safe nails.  When I looked into the company and the products they offered I was super excited to have the opportunity to try them out. This is a product designed for children, and even pregnant women, who are looking for a non-toxic, safe, paraben free, and water based nail polish that washes off with soap and water. Yes, that's right, washes off with soap and water. I could not believe that when I read it so I decided to take Snails up on their offer and try it myself. Here's a little about Snails from their website:

  • Revolutionary three-ingredient formula — containing just water, acrylic polymer and non-toxic colorants, SNAILS is safe in its simplicity.
  • Totally water soluble — SNAILS washes off easily with simple soap and water, making harsh solvent-based remover a thing of the past.
  • Environmentally friendly — from biodegradable packaging and lead-free bottles, to a strict no animal testing policy.
  • Hypoallergenic — SNAILS is purely chemical, Paraben and toxin free, so little nails are kept safe, sound and splendidly coloured.
  • Vivacious colour choices — every SNAILS polish delivers glorious high-quality gloss and deliciously gentle fragrance.

Read the rest of the review below to see if it lived up to the claims.

Snails sent me two colors to try. First up is Candy Floss and it's a shimmery baby pink that reminds me of icing! It's really sweet! The baby pink has a nice iridescent shimmer throughout which reflects purple and blue. Very cute.

I used two coats for the opacity below. There's a little bit of visible nail line, so if you're not a fan of that you may want to use three coats instead. This polish literally has no scent which is just awesome! It applies smoothly and the company says you do not need a bottom coat and I tend to agree.

So, could I wash this off with just soap and water? I was skeptical. I have tried water based polishes in the past that claimed to come off with a water based polish remover and they really didn't... this brand claimed all I needed was soap and water. Soap and water!! Well you know what? It worked. It worked insanely well. All I used was warm water and SoftSoap antibacterial soap, because it's what I had on hand. The best part? I didn't have to scrape or scrub, I just had to wash my hands and gently rub my nails, the polish came right off. Completely off! I was shocked! It just simply dissolved and I washed it all away. I am so impressed.

See!? I took this photo right after I finished washing (photo above). The polish is completely gone. I didn't have to do anything else. In fact, I applied the second color right after taking this photo!

The next color I tried is called Twinkle Dust which is a shimmer deep copper/burnt orange color. I used two coats for the opacity shown, and, again, no issues with application what so ever.

Now to me, this was the test. Was this deep shimmery color going to come off with just soap and water? The answer is yes, yes it did. It came right off as easily as the Candy Floss. Color me impressed!

How cool is this stuff? I am super impressed and think this is an excellent polish to give to little girls who are into nail polish. You won't have to worry about them breathing in the fumes, or using harsh nail polish remover on their little fingers and toes. This can come off right in the shower. I can see this being a great dress-up time nail polish.  There's a real need for a product like this and I really digging this concept.

I do not think this is all that practical for adults. It does come off so easily that I wouldn't be comfortable rocking it for my manicures. I simply wash my hands too much and it'd be gone too soon. There is a niche market, namely Muslim women, discussed more thoroughly on Snails website. I think that's really cool they thought of that!

I'm really glad Snails reached out to me. I would have never known about this product and now I have a recommendation in my back pocket when my mommy friends ask me about kid-safe products.

Let me know what you think about this concept and these colors. Be sure to check out www.safe-nails.com to learn more about their products.

OPI: A Butterfly Moment

Hello hello! I hope you're all having a lovely day! Thanks for taking the time to check in and see what I have on my nails! Today I am going to show you a polish I received for consideration from the Mariah Carey collection that came out a while back.

This is A Butterfly Moment, what a totally Mariah name! I am not sure the name can get more Mariah than that! LOL. This is a really subtle pink/tan color with some beautiful gold microshimmer.  This is such a pretty neutral, work appropriate, conservative but fun polish. I like it a lot more than I thought I would.  I think it's extremely versatile; it's pink but it's nude, it's gold, but it's not... The gold microshimmer makes it for me. Without it it would be super boring but with it, it's just lovely. The gold adds a warmth that will look awesome with darker skin tones or if you're rocking a summer glow.   This is like a shimmering sands look. It's Gina approved.

The formula is ok, but beware, it can be streaky. Take your time applying this one to avoid brush strokes. It's on the frosty side so you know how those can be. Otherwise, I used two coats for full opacity and I think it looks great!

So, do you dig it? I want to know what you think of this one! Let me know in the comments below! Have a beautiful day!

Zoya: Micky

Hello loves! I cannot even believe it's already Wednesday! Are you kidding me? Where does the time go?! On Wednesdays we wear pink so today it's Zoya's Micky for your viewing pleasure. This was sent to me for consideration.

Zoya's Micky is a hot pink with some really subtle microshimmer. Zoya describes this as a coral, but I do not see coral in this color at all. What were you thinking Zoya Fairies?! In any event, this is a really pretty pink for spring and summer.  The microshimmer is really really subtle but makes this color a bit more fun than a flat pink. To my eye that shimmer is silver in color, maybe white. I cannot be sure.

The formula on this was excellent. I used two coats for opacity and it went on smoothly with no streaking or balding. This is highly pigmented and has a nice shine!

Who else is a fan of this pretty pretty pink!? I want to hear your thoughts on this polish! Also, what have you all been up to? Is it finally warming up near you? It's been warmer here but we just got another cold front so the beautiful weather is not sticking around just yet.

Have a wonderful day everyone! Thanks for taking the time to check the blog!

Duality Cosmetics Nail Pak: Grace

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a relaxing Sunday! I have sausage and peppers simmering away in the crock-pot for dinner. I hope it comes out ok, I just kind of winged it.   We shall see...

Today I have a really fun polish to show to you! I mentioned before that my birthday was last Saturday. A friend of mine who knows of my love of nail polish sent me this as a present. I actually hadn't heard of this brand and concept before so I was super excited to try it out!

This is Grace by Duality Cosmetics. It's called a Nail Pak and it's an absolutely brilliant idea! This is a .60 oz nail polish screwed onto a plastic container which contains a nail file and 40 pre-soaked nail polish pads. How cool is that!?  This would be perfect to keep in your office at work for quick touch ups or to bring on a trip. It has everything you need for an emergency touch up or quick manicure. I actually think these would make great gifts for bridesmaids! So here's what it looks like:

My polish came packaged in a little nylon gift bag. As you can see the bottle is quite large, that's because the bottom part is where the file and nail polish remover pads are! That part screws on easily and then the bottle is pretty much normal sized.

This is what the polish looks like with the bottom unscrewed. Inside the removable bottom you can see a circular nail file. How cool is that!? So if you wanted to fix a break or snag you can use that. Underneath is where the pre-soaked nail polish remover pads are.

Isn't this just the greatest idea!?

My friend Laurie sent me this through the Facebook gift app so I was able to select my own color. I went for Grace which is a classic light pink with just a hint of subtle sparkle. This pink is great because it has a tiny tinge of purple that makes it work well for my skin tone.

I love the polish, it was opaque in just two coats and went on smoothly. It's not too thick and not too thin, it's just right! I love the finish! It's super shiny and almost jelly like but not sheer. This is a great quality polish!

What do  you think? Are you as excited as I am over this concept. I cannot believe no one thought of this a long time ago! If you want to learn more you can check out Duality's How it Works page. This retail for $15 a piece which is on the higher end but I do think it's worth it. This little guy is going to come in really handy in a pinch someday. Like I said above, I think these would make excellent bridesmaid gifts! The girls can carry it in a clutch the day of the wedding in case of emergency! Too cool! Let me know if you have tried any of these polishes!

Thanks to Laurie for the thoughtful birthday present! It was a fun surprise!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Bondi New Your "Botanical Beauty"

Hello beauties! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're all having a nice week. As you know, on Wednesdays we wear pink so today I have a polish to show you from a new brand called Bondi: New York, which was sent to me for consideration.

This is Botanical Beauty  which is a lilac tinted Pink creme.    It's got a nice high shine finish. I love the color, it may have a  touch too much white in it for my skin tone but I think a lot of people can pull this off, vs. a true baby pink, because the subtle purple tone warms it up and makes it less stark.

This polish is super opaque and I only needed two coats for the finished result. I had no issues with streaking or balding at all. I thought the formula was very nice on this. Please excuse the index finger, I'd just broken that nail when I took these photos:

Bondi polishes are 5-Free and can be purchased on their website for $15 a bottle. The price point is a bit high for me. I do not usually spend that much on a polish unless i feel the color is truly unique. However, if this suits your budget the product is nice.

What do you think o f Botanical Beauty? Have you tried any Bondi nail polishes? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

OPI: I Theodora You

Hi everyone! Today I have yet another polish from OPI's Oz collection to share with you. As you know already, this collection was sent to me for consideration.

This is I Theodora You and it's another SoftShades color. It's a sheer baby pink color. In the right lighting it's got a nice high shine. This type of color gives you a nice clean look. I do love the look of a sheer pink from time to time. I think I love the idea of it more than I love the actual result. I tend to gravitate towards these types of shades and then I never quite love them on me. This one is ok.

I used two coats for the opacity shown but I think you really do need three, I am just too lazy for three.  I had a bit of streaking but I think it was really all about my application, not the really the polish, so be careful and you should be okay.

Please excuse my dry cuticles:

What do you think? Need this in your life?
