Precision: Scorpion King

California brand, Precision, is taking the US by storm. They're here to stay and pumping out some really fantastic polishes worth getting your hands on.  Precision was kind enough to send me some goodies to try out. Out of the polishes I have had a chance to try from Precision, this one, Scorpion King, is my favorite.

Scorpion King is a really interesting sort of charcoal color with tons of purple and silver microshimmer throughout. I love this color, it's super interesting and unlike anything I have in my collection. (Alright, I have a lot of polish, so I have something  sort of like it, but this is different enough)  This was a great formula. I only used two coats to get full opacity and I had no issues whatsoever with application, smooth and perfect.

I am really excited to see what else this company has to offer. Stay tuned for reviews of some more neutral shades I have tried from Precision.

I know I haven't been the best blogger and I thank you all for your patience. I don't blog for a living, I work a demanding full time job, which I LOVE! It's been busy lately and I just haven't had the time to sit down and blog, so I am sorry to leave you without content but I hope you understand. I will do my best to be more consistent. Sometimes I just need a moment away from writing! I know you'll all understand. Thanks for all of the support. This blog would be nothing without you, constant reader. I love you all!

OPI: When Monkeys Fly! Over Glints of Glinda

Hiya! I hope you all survived Monday! LOL! Since I showed you Glints of Glinda yesterday I thought i would show you When Monkeys Fly!  which I swatched over Glints of Glinda. (These were sent to me for consideration). When I saw this collection I really thought I would love the glitters, unfortunately they look 100X better in the bottle than they do on the nail. Major bummer!

When Monkeys Fly! is a bronze gold glitter with holo glitter suspended in a clear base. Unfortunately it does not transfer to the nail as nice as it looks in the bottle. The glitter particles are few and far between and difficult to disburse onto the nail. I hate when glitters require a million coats to show up because the clear base gets gunky and gross. It makes me sad that this did not work for me because the color in the bottle is really pretty. I even tried shaking, putting it upside down, putting it on its side... nada. Also, the large gold/bronze pieces that DO make it to the nail have a tendency to curl up and make a mess. Sad day for me.

Meh... it just disappointed me. Oh well! Have you had better luck with this glitter?

OPI: Don't Burst My Bubble and Which is Witch? (Pink Wednesday)

On Wednesdays we wear pink and today I have a soft and sheer milky pink to share with you.  This is Don't Burst My Bubble from OPI's Oz collection. This polish, and the other polish featured today, was sent to be by PR for consideration.

Don't Burst My Bubble is a soft and sherry milky pink shade which is perfect if you have a conservative work place or just need a break from all the color! It's a nice color that makes the nail tips appear really white, which I love. Sometimes sheer colors make the whites appear yellowish or otherwise off-colored. This one doesn't do that at all. I like it.

I applied two coats for the photos below and while it's not opaque, it's not bad at two coats. I think these colors are intended to be sheer like this, so while three coats may eliminate some of the visible nail line, two coats are adequate for a polished look.

I wanted to dress Don't Burst My Bubble  up a bit so I added two coats of Which is Witch? on top. Which is Witch? is a silver and holographic glitter containing fine particles of bar glitters and medium sized holographic hex glitters. It's suspended in a clear base but PACKED with glitter.

I wasn't sure I'd  like this glitter because the bar glitters really do nothing for me, but this one is stunning once applied. The bar glitter is so fine that it doesn't appear the way traditional bar glitter does. This polish creates an almost iced effect on the nails. It's simply beautiful  - I am glad I tried it!

What do you think of these two?

On a side note: I finally went to see OZ: The Great and Powerful last weekend. It was ok but I was disappointed overall. Michelle Williams, who I typically do not love, was awesome though and she looked amazing, especially her skin. What a beauty!  I guess I had high hopes that would never be met. It was pretty though. I am a little less than thrilled that OPI thought SoftShades would do Oz justice. Strange choice. Did you see the movie? What did you think of it!?

Zoya: Dahlia

Good morning! I hope you all have an amazing day! Today I want to show you another one of Zoya's Pixie Dust polishes. This is Dahlia and it was sent to me by Zoya's PR for consideration. If you've seen my other Pixie Dust reviews you know I am loving this nail polish trend. The finish is a textured matte which feels sandy to the touch. I didn't think I would like that feeling but it's nice!

Dahlia is a black textured matte with a silver sparkle. The shimmer on this one is absolutely stunning. The silver offers a nice contrast against the black base.

I used two coats for the opacity shown and the formula was excellent. I have found all of the Pixie Dust polishes apply perfectly. Since this is matte you do not use a top coat unless you want to have a slick look. These dry quickly between coats.

Who is loving this trend like I am?

Have you gotten any new polishes lately? I want to know what is sticking out in your mind as the next best thing!

Nicole by OPI: A Gold Winter's Night

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Today I have a festive color from Kardashian Colors to share with you. This is A Gold Winter's Night. It's got tons of silver, holo and gold bar glitters suspended in a clear base.

Now I am going to be honest with you all. I don't like bar glitter. I just don't. I know it's popular  but you know what? Crackle was popular too and I didn't like that either. It's a matter of personal taste and I just don't dig it. That doesn't take away from the nail polish as a product, it's just not a product I am interested in buying.

That said, the formula on this is nice. While the glitter is suspend in a clear base it is quite densely packed and if you did more than the two coats I show below I don't even think you'd need a colored base. This would however go nicely with a gold base coat or even silver. The glitters are fun and festive, mostly gold with some holo glitter particles dispersed  those have a nice sparkle when the light hits them.

While this isn't my cup of tea it doesn't mean other beauty fanatics won't be drooling over this holiday lacquer. It's a nice take on holiday glam, a little less obvious than green or red.

What do you think of this one? what do you think of Bar Glitter in general. Let me know in the comments below.

Nicole by OPI: All is Glam, All is Bright

Hi everyone! Today I have a Kardashian Kolor from Nicole by OPI to show you. This is All is Glam, All is Bright. Which is a silver glitter with some red glitter. I think Nicole by OPI is describing this as a rosy silver glitter.  It's really festive for the holiday season and I dig it.

This is a smooth glitter, not gritty at all. I like that! It's highly pigmented and I only needed two coats for opacity. Gritty glitters are super annoying. This is not gritty at all. In fact, the finish on this reminds me of glitter polishes from the brand Dr's Remedy. It's almost suede like. It's quite nice.

What do you think of this one? Would you be happy to see this in your Christmas stocking?

Limited edition Kardashian Kolor Holiday shades will be available November 2012 for $7.99 each in the U.S. at select Target, KMart, ULTA, CVS, Meijer, Sears, Kroger, H-E-B, Duane Reade, Fred Meyer, Giant Eagle, Harmon, and Winn-Dixie locations.  In Canada, these lacquers will be retailed for $10.99 each in Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaw, and Jean Coutu.

OPI: Metallic 4 Life

Hi everyone. This polish came out earlier this year with the Nicki Minaj Collection but I never got around to wearing it so never reviewed it here. So why not now!?

This is Metallic 4 Life and it's a high shine black with tons of silver hex and regular glitter. I love this one. I think it's a really nice option for this time of year even though it came out in the spring.  The black is super deep and shiny.

I used two coats for opacity and had no issues with application  I found the glitter to disburse evenly and as long as you were carefully when capping the tips it was pretty low maintenance. The glitter is prominent and doesn't sink into the color at all.

Did you pick this one up back when it was released? What do you think of it? Hit or miss?

LynBDesigns (Etsy) Fun House Mirror and Piping Hot

Happy Friday everyone! Today I have two polishes by an Etsy seller named Jenna. Jenna sent me these polishes for review back in August and it's taken me AGES to get my review up. So sorry Jenna! Jenna's store is LynBDesigns and she has TONS of awesome creative nail polishes for sale for $8.50 each. Her glitter polishes are absolutely stunning and unique.  Here are the two I tried:

First up is Fun House Mirror (LOVE THE NAME!) It's a sheer light gray packed with chunky silver glitter and smaller multicolored glitter pieces. My photos show it at two coats but it can probably benefit from three, but two is a-ok if you're in a rush, it's almost fully opaque.  I found it easy to apply but had a tough time getting the larger glitter particles to evenly disburse, so take your time applying for best results.

Next up is Piping Hot which is a bright cherry red color packed with large silver and red glitter chunks and also smaller multicolored glitter and some silver string glitter.  This is STUNNING and I think would be amazing for Christmas.  It's got so many cool things going on with it and it's unlike any color I have in my collection.

What do you think of these unique glitter polishes? I love handmade items from small sellers.  Check out Jenna's Etsy store and let me know which polishes you like best!
