Sinful Shine: Blue Suede Shoes and Nouveau Purple

Hello beauties! So sorry I have been slacking with the posting lately. I have been super busy. But here I am with TWO polishes to show you. The first, I bought, the second, was sent to me for review, both are from Sinful Colors' Sinful Shine line.

So first up is Blue Suede Shoes. I got this at Walgreens for around $3.99 (if I remember right, maybe $2.99). This is a really pretty dusty blue color with a creme finish. I love the look of this one, and I think it's quite nice for fall even though it's not a jewel tone like most fall colors tend to be.

The formula is thick and went on opaque in just two coats. I had no issues with application and these really do have a nice shine to them, as the name suggests. I did find that this color in particular wore for several days without chipping which is not always the case with most nail polish so I was impressed with that aspect for sure.

Next up is one of the shades the company sent me for review. This is Nouveau Purple and it's a rich, blackened royal purple creme. My photos are pulling it a bit blue, that always happens and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to correct that, so just know that that color is a true royal purple, blue toned but not blue.

Formula was consistent with the formula of Blue Suede Shoe in that it was thick, but not too thick, and applied with no trouble. Opaque in just two coats this dark color was easy to apply and dried with a really beautiful high shine. Thumbs up!

So, if you've seen Sinful Shine polishes in the drugstore and haven't tried them yet, pick one up! I think they're a great "bang for your buck" polish. I have always been a fan of Sinful Colors and this expansion of the line is a welcome addition to the polishes with a true drugstore price point. These days, drugstore prices are skyrocketing and polish is just as expensive as salon brands, I appreciate that Sinful is making efforts to keep cost down while still providing a high quality product in relevant colors and finishes. Kudos Sinful!

Have you tried this line? What are your favorites?

SinfulColors: Daddy's Girl and Out of This World

Good morning my friends! I hope you're all doing well.  It's my first post since the 49ers lost to the Giants :-( Steve really thought this was their year but he was happy to see them get so far anyway. It was a good run.  Silly mistakes and a back up kick returner did them in.  I am just sad that I despise BOTH Super Bowl teams this year. If I had to pick one to root for it'd be the Pats though because I was born a Giants hater ;-) I used to really hate Tom Brady but after watching The Brady 6 on ESPN I have grown to like him a little.

Oh well, on to the polish...

Today I have two colors to show you from the SinfulColors holiday collection. Clearly I am late posting these and I want to apologize for that. However, I have seen these colors in the permanent display at my local drugstores so I think you'll still have no trouble getting your hands on these.

First up is Daddy's Girl it's a semi sheer purple shimmer. I used three coats for the opacity shown and as you can see there's still a bit of VNL. I think this color might benefit from a base coat of something more opaque but it is still really pretty on its own. The shimmer is so pretty in this and it has a wet look to it that I really enjoy.

Next I have Out of This World which is a shimmery silver/white/pearl color. I didn't think I'd like this but I am quite happy to say I do! It's actually really beautiful on the nail and I only needed two coats for the opacity shown in the photos.  I think it's a great color when you want something a bit understated but still interesting.  I am a fan!

There are three more colors from this collection that I will share with you soon. I really enjoy SinfulColors. I adore that they are just $1.99 and really good quality for the money! What are some of your favorite SinfulColors colors?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Sinful Colors: Star Fish (Island Adventure Collection)

It's another Pink Wednesday and today I have a gorgeous color straight from the drug store. On Monday I showed you that gorgeous dusts sage color from Sinful Color's Island Adventure collection, well today I have another beauty from the same promotion.  This is Star Fish. Star Fish is a gorgeous blue toned bubblegum like pink color.  I find this type of pink to be among the most flattering pinks for my skin tone. It reminds me of Essie's Splash of Grenadine.  Just as Seaweed was a dupe of OPI's Stranger Tides, this is a perfect dupe for OPI's Sparrow Me the Drama.  I love a good cheap dupe!!

The formula on this was a little on the thick side. It didn't cause me any trouble, however you need to be a bit careful to avoid a gloopy look.  I got full opacity in just two coats, and the photos below are two coats.

I tend to like Sinful Colors polishes. I am rarely disappointed with their products. I love that they are now launching some more relevant color collections. I am sure the dupes piss off the big companies, but it's nice to see affordable, high quality products in modern shades available in drugstores.

What do you think of this pink? Have you seen this collection in your area? The only color I want from it that I cannot find is the purple. It's beautiful and I favor purples. I will track it down!

Sinful Colors: Seaweed (Adventure Island Collection)

Good morning!!! I hope everyone is doing well today. Sorry I took last week off from blogging. It's been so tough to get good photos done when I have NO SUNSHINE. The ones I have for today are okay but not the best. My apologies. When I get a beautiful sunny day I will do a swatch-a-thon!

Today I have a gorgeous sage green from Sinful Color's Adventure Island collection to share with you. This color is literally the perfect dupe for OPI's Stranger Tides. I was shopping this weekend while wearing this and picked up Stranger Tides and it was identical so I did not even purchase it! Gotta love a $2 dupe! :-) I just love this color. Green is my favorite color and this is my favorite shade of green!

The formula is great. I had no issue with application. It was on the thick side but it didn't make it difficult to work with at all.

If you're dying to get you hands on Stranger Tides  but can't find it or cringe at the price, head over to Rite Aid and get this baby for just $1.99 it will satisfy that craving!

My 100th Blog Post Featuring Sinful Colors "Rise and Shine"

Happy Monday readers!!! This is my 100th blog post! (Time flies when you're having fun, eh?) I am so happy that I started this blog. I'd tried blogging before and never really found my voice until Prim and Polished. I am really having so much fun writing this blog so thank you all for following along with me. :-)

I have lots of swatches in the works as always and I also plan to do a post on how I take care of my natural nails. A facebook user suggested that and I haven't forgotten I just have to put some stuff together for that post so look out for that in the next month or two.

Last week Walgreens had Sinful Colors polishes on sale buy one get one 1/2 off, which means they were $3 for two polishes - good deal! So I picked up a few, including this gorgeous shimmery teal "Rise and Shine".

This color is really so pretty but I am not 100% sure I love it on my nails. I am undecided. I think I like it but I don't love it. The finish on this is interesting; it's not a true frost IMO but it's got a really subtle shimmer to it.

The formula on this is not so great. Usually I find Sinful Colors to have a great formula but this was thick and sort of difficult to work with. It cleaned up easily so it's not a big deal but I wouldn't consider this to be as high quality as some of the other Sinful Colors polishes I have tried.

(CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO ENLARGE)

So what do you think of "Rise and Shine"? Do you wear colors like this often?

Sinful Colors "Bleeding Heart"

Sinful Colors "Bleeding Heart" is a gorgeous classic red creme. As you can see in the photo to the right I believe my bottle has a typo. I'd be suprised if it really is "Bleending Heart" LOL but you never know. I am assuming it is "Bleeding Heart."

I purchased this at my local CVS. Only one of the CVS stores by me has Sinful Colors but you can find Sinful Colors polish at Walgreens (the biggest collection I have seen) or Rite Aid. These polishes are a fantastic value at just $1.99 each.

The formula on this one is impressive. I found it super easy to apply and leaves you with a gorgeous streak free super shiny finish.

I love red nails. I know a lot of nail polish lovers do not but to me there's something classic about a shiny red creme. This fits the bill perfectly and it's so inexpensive it NEEDS to be in your collection!!

I find that red polishes often stain upon removal. Do you have any suggestions as to how to avoid that? It's no big deal but for about 24 hrs after removing most reds I can see a red tint.

So do you like red nails? How about this red?

Sinful Colors "Let's Talk": A Steal at Just $1.99

Sinful Colors "Let's Talk" is another frustrating purple that demands to be photographed blue. Purples are a NIGHTMARE to photograph properly. I'd say most of my photos here lean a bit more blue than the color is in reality. I think the most accurate photo of this color is the photo to the left, the bottom of the bottle. Picture the other photos a touch more purple and you'll be golden.

I believe "Let's Talk" would be classified as a pearl/satin finish. (See this wonderfully helpful article at The Edge of Sanity on defining finishes). It has no noticeable shimmer particles but has a pearl like sheen to it. Now you know me, I love cremes, I tend to steer clear of shimmery and pearly polishes but this one is really pretty and I just LOVE purple so I snatched it up. For $1.99 you really cannot really go wrong.

This polish took just two coats for the results below. It was opaque and smooth. I loathe pearl-like polishes because I often times find them unbearably streaky and annoying to apply. Not so with "Let's Talk". It applied like a dream and finished with no streaking whatsoever.

I have found that I really enjoy these drug store cheapies. Sinful Colors is a fantastic bargain for just $1.99.

FYI: ALL NAIL POLISH, including Sinful Colors of course, is Buy One Get One 1/2 Off at Rite Aid this week. I went in and, GASP, I didn't get anything, but I will probably venture back and pick something up later in the week. But that means you can get two of these babies for about $3. You simply cannot go wrong.

Sinful Colors Haul and Sinful Colors "What's my Name?"

I mentioned on Twitter that I hauled a few Sinful Colors polishes the other day and I thought I'd share them with you.

"Let's Talk" is a gorgeous Royal Purple Frost. It photographed much more blue than it is. I hope when I go to swatch it it come out more true to color.

"What's Your Name" is a really pretty black with teal duochrome. [See below]

"Bleending Heart" is a great blood red creme, I can't wait to wear this one! I think it might be a typo on my label, it's probably supposed to be "Bleeding Heart" but who knows.

Keep your eye out for swatches of those coming soon...

Sinful Colors' "What's Your Name?" is a gorgeous black polish with a subtle teal duochrome. I hope that I was able to capture the color for you because the shimmer in these is very very understated but it's really gorgeous.

The formula is nice on this. Sometimes Sinful Colors polishes can be sheer, requiring many coats, but this is opaque with just two coats.

I love the color but I do wish the shimmer was a bit more noticeable. In most lighting it's almost undetectable which is a shame because it's really a great feature of the polish. That's really my only complaint, I just wish the beautiful teal showed up more.

Sinful Colors polishes are available at drugstores like Rite Aid and Walgreens for just $1.99, which makes them quite the steal if you ask me!
