Nicole by OPI: Sweet on Pete

If this color does not scream summer then I don't know what does. This is Sweet on Pete which is part of the collection Nicole by OPI put out, inspired by my girl Tinkerbell! I received this for consideration from PR. Does anyone know what the name means? I am a big Tink fan but I can't figure it out! Big thanks to my sister-in-law, Kelly, for explaining the name to me. DUHHH! How can I call myself a Tink fan and not know this is referring to Tink's love for PETEr Pan! I am shot! Thanks Kel!

This is a bright chartreuse green which is a really hot color this summer in fashion. Just take a walk through the mall and you will see this hue all over the place. I dig it!

I used just two coats for opacity here and the formula was great. No streaking or balding at all. I am actually shocked at that because sometimes colors that lean more yellow have pigment issues, but not this one. Smooth goodness. Good job Nicole by OPI.

Gorgeous right? Love it!

Random Thought: As I type this I am eating a Chocolate Chip Cherry Tort Lara Bar and man is it tasty! I think I may have found a new favorite flavor. Lara Bar for the win!

Zoya: Arizona

Hello beautiful people! Thanks for stopping by and reading the blog today! I hope you're all having a nice week. Today I have a color to show you from Zoya's Beach collection.  This is Arizona which is an orange sherbert creme polish.  This is a pretty hot color for this year and I dig it.  It's bright and fun, it borders on neon on me but it looks cool!

The formula of this one is okay, but not the best. It's super pigmented which made it really thick and a little tough to apply.  The end result was fine, no issues with balding or anything, just took some care to put on. I used two coats for the opacity shown in the photos.

Have you tried this one? What do you think?

You can purchase Zoya online.  They have a new program called share the love, where you can earn points for referring friends.  This is my referral link. You do not have to use it if you do not want to. I do not want to pressure anyone to use it.  I have reviewed many Zoya products and love most of them so I am comfortable recommending them.  I just want to be upfront that that is a share the love link, no hiding the ball here on my blog!

Note on comments: I still don't know what to do with my comments. You cannot see the link to comment under the posts. I only see it when I click on each individual post.  If you're on the main page and search comments with Ctrl+F then you can find it, it's like it's off to the side of the post, I don't get it. Any suggestions?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Julep Nail Vernis: Mandy

It's another beautiful Pink Wednesday and today I have a color from Julep Nail Vernis called Mandy. Mandy is a vibrant coral toned hot pink, perfect for summer! The color is slightly more coral in real life than it appears in the photos. It's a really fun, almost neon shade.

I found the formula to be easy to work with and I had full opacity with just two coats.  I had no issues with streaking or balding and the formula was a nice consistency, not too thick and not too thin.  This is my first experience with the brand. I'd actually never heard of it until they contacted me and I am happy I got to try it. I think it's a great product.

Julep Nail Vernis is 3 free and retails for $14 a bottle and $1 from every bottle goes to charity.  They're also offering free shipping with any order this summer. I love free shipping! The price is sort of hefty, considering the size of the bottle. These are a little more than 1/2 the size of the standard nail polish, they are .27 fl. ounces. Most polishes are .50 fluid oz. So considering the size they're very expensive.   They seem to have a fantastic color range, with a shade for everyone, so if you want to splurge you'll find something you like.

China Glaze: Blue Iguana

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Back to the grind today though. It's dreary here today. It's supposed to rain all freekin' week. How annoying!!!

Today I want to share one of the colors from the China Glaze Island Escape summer collection. This is Blue Iguana.  It's a shimmery, semi-sheer, turquoise color. It's bright and fun!

The formula on this one is not my favorite. It's pretty sheer so that  annoys me a bit. The photos are three coats of polish and you can see some VNL is still apparent.  This polish would be so lovely if it was more opaque.

So what do you think of this one? Do you need it in your life. Have you had better luck with opacity?

China Glaze: Cha Cha Cha (Island Escape Collection)

Happy Monday my friends.  I hope all you mother's had a great mother's day and I hope everyone else treated their mom to something nice!

It's finally starting to be nice out here. We still have some really cold days and tons of rain but it's been getting better. I am doing a "Boot Camp" with some of the girls from work on Mon, Wed. and Thurs. We're working our butts off to get in shape. Last week was week one of four, I was so sore! Today kicks off week two! Wish me luck!!!

Today I have a color from China Glaze's Island Escape collection to share with you.  This is Cha Cha Cha which China Glaze describes as a "vivacious shimmer green."  It reminds me of sour green apple Blow Pops!  It's a vibrant green apple green with shimmer.

While I love this color I don't love it on my nails. I can't see many occasions for me to break out the crazy green shimmer but it's got a place in my Helmer nonetheless.

The formula on this one was okay but I needed three coats for full opacity. I think it's more opaque than some of the other colors in the Island Escape collection but it's very sheer on the first two coats. It might even benefit from four.  Other than opacity I didn't have any issues with application. It was not streaky at all just sheer.

Did you pick this one up or are you skipping it?

New Spring and Summer from Deborah Lippmann

What it is: Add a pop of colors to your nails this spring and summer with the hottest most fashionable shades from Deborah Lippmann!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun – A smooth, vintage coral that everyone can wear because it’s bold yet velvety – a sort of carefree, creamy coral.

I Know What Boys Like – A creamy periwinkle that credits to both the 80’s and my clients. Several of my clients have asked for interesting blues. This one is a blend of blue and purple with a creamy finish, which gives it a slightly retro look that is so playful and hip.

Lara’s Theme was created with supermodel Lara Stone is Deborah Lippmann’s newestcelebrity collaboration. It’s a dare to wear shade of hot-hot orange.

Yellow Brick Road, a sheer mellow yellow with a jelly finish. The proof that it wears beautifully on all skin tones: it complements me and Lady GaGa, who wore it first for her “Born This Way” performance at the 2011 Grammy Awards

Price: $16

Nicole by OPI: Daffy Dill

Hi everyone! Today I have one of the Target exclusive Nicole by OPI shades to share with you.  This is Daffy Dill, it is a vibrant lime green creme.  The name is pretty cute on this one.  The green is in your face and I am not sure it's something I will wear all that often, however it is a nice shade to have around for fun.

The formula was nice and went on perfectly.  I had no issues with balding or streaking.  These Nicole By OPI polishes now have a brush similar to the Rimmel flat tapered brushes (but not quite as awesome). Nicole by OPI's brushes are flat and tapered but they are slightly shorter than Rimmel's.  I think they're not quite perfect but a great improvement on the standard brush.

As a side note: I HATE the shape of Nicole by OPI bottles and it makes for some ugly swatch photos because it's impossible to get your hand around that odd shaped thing. However, the shape of the bottle really has nothing to do with the polish, LOL, it's just something I hate.

This shade is part of the Target exclusive collection, Something about Spring. So you can only get the colors in this collection at your local Target store. They retail for abut $7.50 each, sometimes slightly more.

OPI: Y'all Come Back Ya Hear (Texas Collection)

Good morning my friends! I hope you're all having a fabulous week! Today I want to share another polish from the OPI Texas collection with you.  This is called Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? which I think is a totally adorable name! Do people really say that in Texas? I hope so!

This is one of OPI's new sorbet finishes. Which is semi transparent and jelly like. These offer a nice high shine.  If you're  into opaque and loathe visible nail line then these probably are not for you.  I have a love/hate relationship with these. When my nails are on the short side I don't mind seeing through a bit but when they're long it irritates me.  In the photos my nails are long. I did three coats and the VNL isn't really all that noticeable in the lighting I took the photos in. In direct light through there is VNL.  You won't get 100% opaque on these but this one in particular is more opaque than some of the others.  If you look close at the photos you can see the consistency of the polish in the bottle. You can tell it's much thinner than other polishes. But the thing is it's not really thin, it's just rubbery. Does that make sense? It's really cool!

I really like this color. It's orange, like ORANGE! hahaa! I think it will be wonderful for summer.  I bet this looks just incredible on darker skin tones!

So what do you think of this one. Will y'all be picking this up? (I couldn't resist using y'all in a sentence!)

Shatter Line Extended with Bold Blues!

OPI Launches Bestselling Shatter Coat in Three Blue-Hued Shades

OPI expands its Shatter line with the addition of three new trendsetting shades: BlueNavy and Turquoise. With nautical hues of cobalt, indigo and sapphire, these blues provide the perfect look for summer nails in one simple step.  Inspired by graffiti art, Shatter leaves behind a crackled, two-texture finish when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Shatter from matte to glossy in seconds.
Black Shatter was received with great fanfare, showing that women are looking for new ways to express themselves and are excited to try different textures on their nails,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “By adding a variety of colors to the line, there are more options for every woman, whether she is looking for a funky aquamarine or elegant deep blue. Unlike traditional nail art which can be complicated and difficult to replicate, Shatter is easy to use and allows everyone to experiment with this new trend.”
In addition to the original Black Shatter, the line also features the Shatter coat in WhiteRed and Silver. All Shatter retail displays now feature Quick Response (QR) code, a two-dimensional barcode readable by smart phones and mobile phones with cameras and Internet capability.
