OPI Live and Let Die

Admittedly this post is a bit pic heavy but I had to include tons of photos because this is a rare polish my friends. This is a Live and Let Die by OPI (Skyfall collection) and it, ladies and gentleman, is a ONE COATER. You read that right. This baby was fully opaque in just ONE coat.  Amazing right?

Live and Let Die is a highly pigmented smoky hunter green with tons of gold microshimmer. This is a stunner. It, like Mary Poppins, is practically perfect in every way. First off, it's absolutely beautiful. It's not too dark that you lose the green, it's really balanced and well thought out. I love deep dark rich greens and add a gold shimmer and you have me floored. Then add in the fact that the formula is so perfect it's fully opaque in one coat and you've got me.

I can't get over the perfection that is this polish. If you love greens you need this in your life. Of all of the many many many many many polishes in my collection there are very few, if any, that are opaque in one coat. When that happens I have to tell the world. I have to make sure everyone knows. Have I mentioned this is a ONE COATER! Honestly, just get a load of this beauty:

Are you okay? Do you need to take a moment to drink it all in? I know!!! It was love at first sight for me with this one. Congratulations OPI, I'm smitten!

Have you gotten your hands on this one yet? If not absolutely give it a try. It's one of the best polishes I have used in a long time. I can't say a negative thing about it.

Cult Nails: My Kind of Cool Aid

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!!! Today I want to share another Cult Nails lacquer with you This is My Kind of Cool Aid - isn't that the cutest name for a company named "cult"!?  My Kind of Cool Aid  is described as a "gravender" with delicate shimmer.   These tones always call out to me and this is no exception.  I thought it would be similar to a Sally Hansen Color I have in Mystic Lilac but My Kind of Cool Aid is more purple and less shimmery. I will do a comparison at some point, but they're not dupes at all. This one is unique in my very large collection. I love the subtle shimmer, it adds interest and a bit of glam

Like the other Cult Nails polishes I have tried, the formula on this is great. I had no application issues.  It was opaque in 2 easy coats, no balding, streaking or cuticle pooling.

So what do you think of this one? I really love it! I am all over these grayed out purples.  I can't get enough of them and if they ever go out of style I will still be that girl rocking it on my nails for sure.

Cult Nails has 4 polishes available online for $10 a piece. Have you tried this brand yet?

Zoya: Caitlin (Intimate Collection)

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are prepping for a great week. Today I wanted to share a color from Zoya's Intimate Collection. This collection is absolutely gorgeous. These are all my type of colors for sure. I love these muted tones. They're work safe but still a bit edgy. I am in love.

Today I have Caitlin to share with you. Zoya describes this as a smoky purple tinged medium grey. I think that's really accurate. It's a fantastic shade. My sister in law complimented me on it this weekend. I love getting nail compliments.  I love how it's grey but it's purple at the same time. It may seem like you have a dupe in your collection, as we have been seeing a lot of these colors in the last couple of years, but I promise you it's a unique one and worth getting your paws on if the color appeals to you.

Caitlin is a creme finish which is my favorite kind of finish. I had no issues at all with application. It went on smoothly and I had very little cleanup!

I can see myself rocking this very often. I love these types of colors and I find them to be sort of on the neutral side so I can wear them with anything!

What do you think of Caitlin? Is this on your must have list for spring?

OPI: Parlez-Vous OPI? (Re-Do)

So today I wanted to show you one of my favorite colors, Parlez-Vous OPI by OPI. I wanted to review this because it was my very first blog post and my photo was AWFUL as I hadn't discovered my macro setting yet haha. I noticed that many readers find my blog by searching for this color on Google so I'd rather they found much better photos so that's why I am reviewing this one again.

This color is great. It's a medium dusty purple creme color.  I love wearing purples so of course I'd love this one.  The application is great, it's opaque in two coats and goes on smoothly. This is one of my favorite OPI colors for sure.

So I hope that you enjoyed these updated photos. My original ones were just so horrific I had to do them over to show the true beauty of this color. Do you own this one? How do you like it?

Zoya: Edyta

Hi everyone! I hope you're all kicking off your weekend the way you want to, weather it's relaxing by the fire, heading to the movies or doing some last minute shopping. Have fun and enjoy the weekend. Today Steve and I are going to see Tron: Legacy in IMAX-3D. I just watched the original last night for the first time *I KNOW! Where have I been!? and I enjoyed it so I am looking forward to seeing this one.

Last night I went to Ulta because I was in the area, unfortunately the only three Ultas in my state aren't very close to where I live. So I wandered around for a bit and considered getting some Buy2Get2Free Essies or OPIs but you couldn't mix and match the brands and I find Ulta a bit expensive so I passed on those. Then I saw a lone Zoya display hidden on  a bottom shelf and there was Edyta! I have been lusting after this color ever since seeing a few swatches on various blogs and I was just waiting to see it in person before committing to an order. During the 6 free color spoons event I ordered a spoon of this but I didn't get those yet. I knew the second I saw this that I needed it in my life. The light hits this color in a way I cannot even describe in any other word by beautifully. So I grabbed this and an Ulta Hand & Body cream to get me over $10 and headed to the cash register with my $3.50 off $10 coupon in hand. So my total came to $6.95 not toos shabby, it was like getting a freebie lotion.

Anyway, Zoya's Edyta  is described by Zoya as: "a complex mixture of gold, olive, blue-green and smoky grey with a sparkling metallic finish." The description is spot on. This thing is incredible. It's base is sort of a smoky grey/green and in the light it sparkles with this intense sort of bronze-y gold. It's so hard to describe and photos do not do it justice. It's incredible and  very unique in my book. When I brought it to the counter to pay the cashier was like "Wow, this is so pretty!!" I agree.

The formula is great. It's almost opaque for me in one coat but I did two to fix any mistakes I made. It glided on well and I had no brush streaks at all.  I am really impressed with what polish brands are doing lately with these shimmery finishes. I remember the days when shimmer was something I steered clear of because it almost certainly meant brush strokes and balding. Recently brands have really perfected this formula and presented us with some of the most incredible sparkly shimmery shades imaginable.  Color me impressed my dears.

On to the photos, as if they can do this one justice. My suggestion, just order it. You'll thank me later.

Stunning? Didn't I tell you it was? I love this color, can you tell?  I am so happy Ulta had it.  Zoya polishes are great and not too expensive at $7 a pop. They can be hard to find in stores so shipping is something you have to consider. However their spoons really do make it easier to order online since you can pick one up for $0.50 (shipped free) to make sure the color is what you think it is (we all know we can't really trust stock swatches).

So what do you think? Is this color on your must have list? Have you worn it? Do you love it as much as I do?

Revlon Perplex Perplexed my Camera

So there I was... roaming around CVS with nail polish on the mind. I knew I had almost no chance of finding the things I so wanted to find... Milani One Coat Glitters, Milani Jewels, Revlon Perplex. I never have any luck with hot collections. But just as I headed for the door with all hope lost there it was, calling my name. "Buy me Gina." It cooed. A lone bottle of the elusive Revlon Perplex, just one.  I rushed towards the devastated display, arms outstretched ready to tackle anyone going for my polish. It's MINE!

Revlon Perplex is all the rage in the polish world right now and it was released as a dupe for the expensive ($23) and popular Chanel Paradoxal which I do not own.  I have seen several bloggers comparing the two and for me this dupe satisfies my desire for that shade. If you're lusting after Paradoxal I'd suggest searching this one out at your local CVS. I paid $5.99 for it. So it's a fraction of the Chanel cost.

Now let me first begin by saying This color freaked my camera out. I really had a hard time capturing the gorgeous subtle shimmer, so for that I am sorry.

Perplex is a gorgeous smoky purple color with really subtle pink shimmer. The shimmer is ultra fine and visible in the light. If you look closely at my photos you'll see it but it just would not show up in my pictures. Sorry! I promise it's there though and it's the quality that makes this shade unique.

The formula was nothing to write home about but it wasn't bad. I found I got cuticle pooling and that was annoying to clean up but  otherwise there were not insane problems with the formula.

Have you had any luck finding Perplex? I hope if you want it you find it. I wish there was more than one in the display so I could send one out. I will keep looking though! Hype wise the color isn't THAT amazing but if you were loving the high end version but hating the price then this is the perfect alternative.

nubar: Marabout (Finest Silks Collection)

Hello lovelies! I hope the weekend was good and you're energized today. This week should be a fun one for me as it's Thanksgiving on Thursday. Thanksgiving is always a nice time. I overeat and watch football LOL. I cannot wait to set up my Christmas tree this weekend. I just love the holidays.  For my American readers, how do you celebrate Thanksgiving? What's your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Today I have another nubar color from the Finest Silks collection. This is Marabout and nubar describes this as "a deep muted brown". To my eye it's a taupe like the popular OPI You Don't Know Jacques . It's slightly lighter than that one which makes me like it a bit more because YDKJ leans a little charcoal on me.

This is a lovely creme finish and it just glides on flawlessly. I am really impressed with this collection and really think the polishes are fool proof in terms of application. I have no issues with the formula or brushes. They're just wonderful, this is no exception.

He

So are you a fan or do you have enough taupes? I love it. I can't get enough of these colors.

Don't forget to tell me your favorite Thanksgiving dish and your plans for this week! I am nosey!

Finger Paints: Gallery Glam

Hi everyone! I hope you're all well. My ankle is feeling a little better but it's still not 100%. I stayed home from "work" today in order to rest it and hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Today I wanted to share a color from Finger Paints that I bought a while ago when they had a buy 2 get one free sale. This is Gallery Glam.

Gallery Glam is a smokey dark blue shimmer. The shimmer is subtle but adds depth and interest to this color. It's not as sparkly as China Glaze's Midnight Mission but it's pretty nonetheless! I love it. The shimmer in this one seems to be the same color as the polish so it doesn't contrast as much as Midnight Mission's silver shimmer.

The formula on this one is great. It applied nicely and I didn't have any issues with thickness. I have had trouble in the past with some Finger Paints but not lately. I think I just had a dud once that's all. I love this one.

What do you think of Gallery Glam? You can purchase Finger Paints polishes at Sally Beauty Supply stores.

You say you want a Revvvolution.... Color Club "Revvvolution"

Color Club's "Revvvolution" is a really pretty black holo. I went shopping with my sister in laws last weekend and I was on a mission to find this one and I scoured the shelves of this beauty salon store only to come up empty handed... well I was telling my sister in law (future sister in law???) Bridget that I wanted this color and what it looked like and she found it buried behind a bunch of other colors on the display! Go Bridget!!

I like this color but I really was hoping for a stronger holo affect. It's holo, don't get me wrong but I wanted more. In the sunshine this color does look like an oil slick, it's sort of subtle but it's really beautiful. I think I need to get my hands on Diamond Cosmetics "Chainmail Charm" I think, from the photos I have seen, that one has a stonger more prominent holo affect.

The formula on this is fine. It was easy to work with. I make a mess with dark colors and I did with this one too. I had lots of clean up which is fine but since it's dark I have a bit of staining. Oh well.

I am still on the hunt for the perfect holo. What's your favorite?!?

OPI: Tickle My France-y

While shopping at some random salon shop in a local mall I picked up the OPI "Jade is the New Black" and this beauty. I spotted "Tickle My France-y" in a basket on a table by the door. Could it be? Clearance polish? I looked all around for the price and when I couldn't find it I finally asked the woman behind the counter. "$1.95" she said! $1.95? No way!! This store sells OPI for $6.95 (a decent price). I was so excited. This is a color I contemplated purchasing for some time now. So I had to go for it. Unfortunately they didn't have anything else exciting in that bin but hey, beggars can't be choosers right?

"Tickle My France-y" is a gorgeous nude/beige/pinky creme. I think this is a fantastic "mannequin hands" type color and it's downright perfect for a conservative office environment or a job interview. I am actually kicking myself for not picking up a few more of these to have on reserve in my collection for that wonderful day when I FINALLY get someone to hire me as an attorney. Oh well, there's plenty of neutrals in the sea. This one is nice because it reads pink, nude, taupe and mauve all at once which is a pretty interesting quality for a creme.

I needed three coats for opacity but that was expected with a color so muted. I didn't mind. The formula was nice and as always I hate the wide brush. Application was not painful though so it's all good.

What do you think of this color? Do you own it? Do you want it? Let me know!!
